    Snake pass RI to Leo
I had my snake out last night for the first time since he has come home but while he was out I noticed bubbles in his mouth when he opened it. So I'm pretty sure he has a RI now my problem is my snake and leopard gecko are both in a closet together with a space heater. Can my snake give the RI to my Leo? I don't want to take my snake in and put it back near my Leo and just keep getting him sick but the rest of the house is so cold.

Did you notice him drinking any water prior to picking him up? I had one snake drink so much water before I picked her up and she had almost a mucus like substance falling from her mouth along with bubbles in het mouth.

I just had the same situation as Masonic on Monday. Put in fresh water for my caramel albino boy and 15 minutes later my wife took him out and he was sliming everything. I checked for bubbles from his mouth and nose and didn't see any. I moved him to my quarantine tub and bumped up the temps a little and misted really good just in case. When my wife got home from work he was fine and has been all week. Pretty sure he had just taken a big drink.

Make sure your temps and humidity are good and if he is still showing bubbles from his mouth or nose then get him checked for a RI.

    Good luck!

He was in his hide and not out drinking. I'm pretty sure its a RI. He only opened his mouth once while holding him 5-10mins and I did see bubbly mucus at the back sides of the mouth.

Can a Snake pass on a RI to a Leopard Gecko? Like a human giving a cold to a chimp... Would be interesting to know.

That is exactly what I want to know. I also keep my silkworms in this closet for my cham.

Tounge movement seems fine when I had him out. My emergency appointment is at 2pm so I'm going to pull him out and give him a good look over. Really don't want to spend $110 just to be seen :please:

I didn't even need to take him out. I'm not sure if you can see it or not but he has bubbles at the back of his mouth :tears:

Most issues with reptiles aren't airborne, so just having him in the same closet as the gecko shouldn't cause a problem, but if you're worried just don't use the same tongs/equipment/whatever for the gecko until the snake's RI gets cleared up.

Well can home with baytril. I must give him daily shots of .15 ml baytril to 1ml of saline for 10 days. Anything else I should do? Should I hold off on trying to feed tell he is done with the meds or? Thanks for all the help

No, don't feed. Abx are hard on their systems. Also, Baytril has been around so long that not all RI's can be cleared up by it.

On a good note he peed and pooped all over the docs towel. That bad boy got thrown away for sure lol  I'm sure this was from the stress but he hasn't defecated since I got him.

Haha, good snake... less for you to clean. Hope he's better soon. I would shop around for another vet. Ours is $45 for a snake visit.

Its normally $65 but they didn't have a opening tell next Wednesday so I had to pay for a emergency visit. Goes up $45 just for that and then meds. It was a $150 visit today :rage: I don't have many options for a exotic vet. Kind of got me by the balls so to speak
