I picked him up a week and a half ago and have him in a 30 gallon terrarium. Im using repti-bark as substrate and have a few hides for him. He has eaten 1 live hopper since i have brought him home and he had no problems taking it. I still havent decided on a name for him. Anyways i also have a corn snake and had a red tail boa as a child. I did tons of research before finding this beautiful lesser bee and had his tank set up a week before i got him to make sure all my temps and humidities were correct. I know the tank is a little big for him but i have provided him with a lot of places to hide. But any advice would be greatly appreciated or maybe even some name suggestions. Just want the best for my little guy.
Thank you for checkin him out.

Setup looks good. I have my balls in aquariums. I covered the screen top with duct tape except where I have a small heat lamp. I found that both belly heat and a small lamp work fine if you cover the top to keep the humidity up. My 40 gallons stay at 60-65% no problem.

Ya i just put some foil on top. But i havent had a problem with humidity. Just keeping a consistant temp. I was reading that someone used plasti dip for 3 sides of the tank and that helped insulate the glass. Im using a medium Uth and a 50watt red heating lamp. He seems to be hiding over toward the cold side and when i pull him out to hold him he seems really cold.
Re: My first bp (lesser bee)
All my balls have individual likes and dislikes of temps. My calico spends most of her time on the cool side; my banana splits his time between hot and cool, my super pastel spends about 90% of his time on the hot side and my ghi spends the majority of her time on the cool. They may seem cool to the touch but that's normal. Our warm blooded hands make them feel cool but as long as you their cool side temps dont dip past 75* they're fine. I keep my snake room temp set at 75-80 so it makes it easy to keep up temps.

I miss those days. Soon I will be back to having my scaly babies again.

So i know people say to switch to rats asap but im scared because rats bite. And i know bp are picky eaters. Idk. Just kinda scared to switch over to live rats...
Re: My first bp (lesser bee)
Finally settled on a name today on the drive home from work. Raiden will be his name. Think is fits him very well with the spider pattern looking similar to lightning and his whiteish color. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...33f2fa200f.jpg

Thank you. I sit and stare at his tank at night waiting for him to come out and roam around. Lol and now my girlfriend (who was scared of and had never held a snake before) is talking about getting another female bp friend for our little guy. Ha ha maybe breeding a few years down the road. :) ha ha ha its crazy what a calm and beautiful snake can do to people.

They don't, or at least they shouldn't. Even the pet store rats I used to buy as feeders never bit me or my snakes. Also I haven't had hardly any trouble switching mine between live and F/T (give it a wiggle and they don't seem to mind if it's dead or not).
Lesser bee's are great, aren't they? Welcome to the club. They seem to yellow out to a nice golden color as adults, which I think is lovely. This is my lesser bee, Gio, who's a little over a year old.

Re: My first bp (lesser bee)
So i was feeding Raiden last night and i dropped the mouse in his enclosure like normal and went over and started to watch a movie. I could see his little head poking out of his hide on the cool side where he was. A couple minutes later i hear something and look over and he is freaking out striking the air idk i would say about 5 or 6 time repeatedly before he stopped and kinda laid there for a few secs and quickly went back into his hide... now keep in mind the mouse was in the middle of the enclosure hiding not nearly close enough for Raiden to get him. I freaked out and removed everything from the enclosure and just left him and the mouse. He then got it and ate it down no problem. He just shed either yesterday or the day before. Im worried. I know he has some nural issues cause his spider gene. But please help!?!?!?!?

You might want to start a new thread with your question. People may not think to look at an older thread, especially if they already looked at it and/or think you're just introducing your snake...

Not sure if you posted a new thread about your concern but just in case you didn't and to ease your mind, you have nothing to worry about. He was simply defending his territory. I have a whole rack full of babies right now that do this all the time. 30 gallon is pretty big for a 2 month old snake (not that there's anything wrong with it being a little big) and he's learning his reach and his senses right now. He'll be fine even if it does turn out that he has a little wobble. I have a 2000 gram spider male that has a moderate wobble and he misses all the time and I feed f/t lol but he eventually gets the rat every time on feeding day. :):)
