New snake time again -- also can't decide! Help me out?

So the new snake bug has bitten me once again, and I find myself wanting (needing, possibly?) a new snake. I currently have 2 kings, a corn, a ball python, and a columbian red tail. Here's the things I had in mind. If you vote please specify which you picked and why. It'd be a big help. Thanks!

I voted for both carpet pythons, mainly because they are what I want next and see them as a different challenge as they are largely arboreal and quite different to the species that you say you have.

I voted jungle carpet... because it is the next snake on MY list lol. I have balls, BCI, BCA, hognose and KSB right now. I wanted something interactive like my boas, but not as heavy as an adult and I also like the idea of it being more of a display snake that will climb some and be out more. I was trying to decide between a BRB and JCP and due to advice I was given by others, settled on the JCP. I still intend to get a BRB as well, but would prefer to get the JCP first.

Bloods are also on my list as well, but from what I've read they are quite inactive and can be somewhat difficult to support / hold correctly. I also still intend to get one of them as well, but want to go with more active snakes for now.

I voted for both of the carpet pythons, since there really awesome animals, and There pretty docile.

I'd say get another boa. I just got a new one myself lately, and holy cow I did not know I'd love them so much.

I voted IJ Carpet, but would gladly say Jungle or any carpet as well.

Out of your current batch everything, sans the boa constrictor is quite terrestrial. My BC is interested in climbing and still does so however the carpet does more. When it comes to display snakes, carpets are fantastic! They can get rather large, and I'd even add a Coastal or Bredli to you list if you'd like a little size. ALL carpets are semi arboreal and will use the full height of your cage so plan for that.

Also keep in mind that with carpet pythons, there is male combat and in the species that do combat, the males, not the females will be larger on average, which is true for IJ's, however it is lesser studied in jungles so it's inconclusive with them at this point.

Carpets can be nippy when you, but it's comical and harmless, I've been bitten by my young coastal 3 times and not a single drop of blood has come. The snake has settled down a lot since being here and with handling.

Carpets are also very hardy animals and can deal with minor husbandry errors, or adjustments.

They can move really fast, and can be quite active. If you can't get into retics due to size, I think carpets are pretty slick.

Here in the US, unless you are set on purity, you will find integration, mixing, crossing is common. This IS mostly coastal but there is a chance of IJ, diamond or jungle mixed in. The parents are close to 10 feet and 8.5 feet and colored completely different.



I don't think you'd regret getting any type of carpet that's for sure!!

I voted jungle carpet because it's something I want to get soon. Love their contrasting colors, they get bigger than balls, and from what I've heard they're a lot more curious and active.

Carpet python for sure, they think they're tough when they're little.(:

I voted spotted python simply because Antaresia are always over looked, and they are a kick, tiny snakes that are convinced they are 15 feet long.

I voted for the blood pythons. I have three and they are great docile snakes. They get to an impressive size, but not unmanageable by one person. My large female is now around 5 feet and weighs about 17lbs. They have a variety of morphs coming out, but even the normals are impressive in coloration. Also, they make great lap snakes.

You have a red tail...sooo I say go up a size. Can't beat Retics and burms.

I say brazilian rainbow boa because in my opinion they are one of the most beautiful snakes with their colors. Although I do want almost everything on that list myself haha.

I voted for a carpet because like you I currently keep colubrids and the carpet is definitely my next snake. They're beautiful, not too large, and relatively easy to care for. Best wishes with whatever you choose.

Yes def rainbow! Such beautiful snakes and seem to have fairly good care and maintenance too!
