CD Constrictors 2014-2015 Breeding Thread
Just as the last clutch of eggs from 2013-2014 pairings is almost finished cooking in the incubator, the temps in FL are dropping into the 50's overnight. "Early" females already have good sized follicles at this point, so we decided to "officially" start the season off this week.
A few "off season" females have been pairing for the last few months and should ovulate by December.
1.0 Nuke Pin x 0.1 Pastel 10F2 (AKA- "Big Brown"). 7 eggs last December and has put on a whopping 1000g over last years pre-lay weight. Sitting at 2800g now :)
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps3f56ff13.jpg
1.0 Nuke Pin x Pastel 11F1 (AKA "Crazy Beech"). 7 eggs in January from retained sperm. She held her eggs for 78 days after ovulation and they were all kinked upon cutting. Don't know what the issue was, but we are hoping it was just an incubation problem, as her eggs were the first clutch in our new incubator last season. Here's to our first good clutch of quads from her!!
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps9b4bb178.jpg
1.0 Nuke Pin x Norm 08F1. Picked up on a trade from JGB Reptiles she sits at 3300+g and did not go last season for JGB. Previously paired there with a Banana, Pastel Calico and Pastel Leopard. Good sperm in her no matter what she does this season!!
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps49339c71.jpg
1.0 Albino Enchi x Albino 08F1. 8 eggs last season with nice follicles already at 350g over last years pre-lay weight. Double sired last season to the Albino Enchi and Banana. She gave us 0.3 Albino Enchis, 2.2 Albinos and 0.1 100% Het Albino (guessing the Banana got a say in that). We would have paired her to our 1.0 Enchi Pied had she not locked with the Banana last season.... poor choice on our part putting the Banana in there, but at that point we had no visible locks with the Albino Enchi. Locked here right away on their first pairing this season overnight.
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps216f516f.jpg
1.0 Enchi Pied x Albino Spider 12F1. First year girl, never been paired. Sitting at 1450g empty. Looking for some DH Albino Pied morphs to add to the DH Albino Pied project. Small follicles, but ready to pair here. The Enchi Pied was pulled the next morning as he went pink into shed.
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...psf2fd849d.jpg
1.0 Pastel Clown x Clown 12F1. This female absorbed last year to a proven Banana and proven Butter 100% Het Clown, and has follicles already. Sitting at 2290g she has nice follicles already. Created a stir in the shop with all the males last night when she started tail wagging and scenting the tub for this Pastel Clown.

More pairings to come this week as some of our males shed out. Waiting on some new females to finish QT in a few weeks, and some VPI Axanthics on the way from Tim Bailey ;)
KillerBlast x Spider (proven)
Enchi Pied x Albino Spider (virgin)
Enchi Pied x Het Pied (proven)
Enchi Pied x Mojave (virgin)
Enchi Pied x Super Pastel (proven to a Sugar Fire)
VPI Axanthic Pinstripe x Firefly (virgin)
VPI Axanthic Pinstripe x Pied (virgin)
VPI Axanthic x Pastel (virgin)
Enchi Fire x Champagne (absorbed to the same pairing last season)
Enchi Fire x Lemonblast (absorbed to the same pairing last year)
Pastel Clown x Clown
Pastel Clown x Fire 100% Het Clown (proven to our Butter Het)
Pastel Clown x Het Clown
Pastel Clown x Pastel 100% Het Clown
More females to figure out what to do with, but this is our "hit list" for females with follicles now.
Some of our early holdback males are nearly ready to start pairing in a few months. Sugar Firefly, Banana Pinstripe, Banana Black Pastel are all sitting at the 400g range.... just a few more meals and some time and they will be ready ;)
I think we have concluded our Banana dinker is actually a Banana Black Pastel ;)
-
You got an awesome season ahead!!
i cant wait till i can start my first breeding season even though that would only be a 1.0 Clown x 0.1 Orange Ghost for some double hets.
-
I can not wait to see where this thread leads. You have some amazing stuff planned for this year good luck with all of your pairings

Good luck Corey! Get 'er done! :gj:

Picking up the pace with the recent cold front ;)
Enchi Pied x Normal (a nice proven reduced, banded, Enchi "looking" Normal). His first observed lock was with this girl this morning. The fresh shed from our Nuclear Pinstripe probably didn't hurt his efforts ;) She has put on 800g over last years pre-lay weight and a 5 egg clutch to a Banana that gave us 3.1 Bananas. Looking for some 0.1 Enchi Het Pieds :D

Dabbling with some VPI Axanthics this season. Gonna try for a few DH pairings with the visual male we picked up, but we started the season with a straight up Axanthic pairing. We also have a 0.1 VPI 100% Het Axanthic at 3000g+ from Tim Bailey that we plan on taking a swing with a 1.0 VPI Enchi 100% Het Axanthic. A proven 10 egg layer, hopefully the odds are in our favor with a nice clutch.
First pairing for this 1.0 Axanthic Pinstripe x 0.1 Axanthic last night fresh out of QT. His first pairing ever.... picked up as a 2011 back-up from Tim Bailey @ 800g. Paired with this proven Axanthic girl and they were locked up this morning :gj:
We are planning on pairing the Ax Pin with our virgin 2012 FireFly and next in line. We were going to pull the trigger on a 1.0 VPI Fire Axanthic proven breeder, but we are going to wait a season or two to try and produce our own. We feel Fire and Pastel are "must haves" with Axanthics.
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps2668ef79.jpg
We can't take credit for this lock, but the pair is now in our hands to work with. Proven pair from Dave Jenkins (Royal Hijinx). They made some nice babies last year for him, and we expect nothing different this season. Another new recessive gene added to the collection. Dave paired them up once waiting on the weather to cooperate before shipping them out to us.
1.0 Mojave Hypo x 0.1 Black Pewter 100% Het Hypo. The Mojave Hypo will likely see our 2012 virgin Pied PH Hypo to try to prove her out. DH Hypo Pieds at worst, and we are working towards Mojave Pieds anyways- the Hypo is now just an added bonus ;)

I'm in love with the Nuclear Pin. All of these look like they'll be fantastic parings. Can't wait to see the kids!
-
On the 4th day of his "rotation" the 1.0 Enchi Pied has locked his 2nd female straight. Fresh sheds from our other males placed in with the females when pairing him has seemed to wake him up. This is this couples 3rd pairing... and the first with a fresh shed from another male gets us a lock ;) Here he is this morning locked up with a proven 0.1 100% Het Pied. She laid our first clutch of last season in March (400+g over pre-lay weight now) and has huge follicles already.
Somehow we missed getting a picture of him locking our proven 2010 0.1 Pastel a few days ago. He is still eating great between his rotations and is hanging at 900g.
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...psaca004c7.jpg
First year virgin 2012 0.1 Firefly introduced to our new 1.0 VPI Axanthic Pinstripe. Looking to make some nice Axanthic Het combos here :gj: Getting to know each other here....

Re: CD Constrictors 2014-2015 Breeding Thread
Looks like you have a very exciting year planned. Best of luck!
-
After 36 hours of straight rain and with a cold front rolling in, we decided to leave everyone paired up one extra day. I knew before I opened her tub they were locked up. Her head was pinned up against the tub wall.... lol!!
Payoff!!
1.0 VPI Axanthic Pinstripe x FireFly 12F1 (not a virgin anymore!!):
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...ps61cea859.jpg

It seemed as though we were running late pairing this year, but checking yesterday we have 17 pairs locked up so far this season. This counts 4 females that absorbed last season. We paired 25 females last season and had 17 clutches.
We are waiting on a few males to mature a bit and get to size before we really kick into full gear. It is not easy to let 10- 15 females sit and wait on these young boys, but the females are later layers (or virgins), are still building and eating, so we have time..... breathe, relax, be patient. Not easy
1.0 GHI Mojave- 375g (0.1 YB, 0.1 Pastel, 0.2 Pinstripe and maybe a Normal or two)
1.0 Sugar FireFly- 510g (0.1 Pinstripe, 0.1 YB, 0.1 Enchi and a few Normals)
1.0 Banana Pinstripe dinker- 505g (0.1 Enchi, 0.1 Spider, and a few Normals)
1.0 Banana dinker- 400g (0.1 Pinstripe, 0.1 LemonBlast and a few Normals)
1.0 Black Pewter 525g (Pastel and maybe an Albino- depending on how our Black Pastel Pied matures)
1.0 VPI Enchi 100% Het Ax- 500g (one job... a 3300g 0.1 VPI 100% Het Ax- 10 egg layer, so we are hedging our bets on odds here on a Het x Het pairing)
We are holding on to one of the 1.0 Black Pastel Pieds we just produced. Hoping he can get to size for a 0.1 Albino who laid late in August last season. If not, his sire is hitting clean-up, but we'd like 100% DH Black Pastel Albino Pieds with the little guy :gj:
Looking like we will be pairing 40- 50 females this season. A few smaller 2012 females (1200- 1400g range) really stepped up eating after we paired them once. 2012 0.1 FireFly has taken 3 meals since she locked with the 1.0 VPI Pinstripe Axanthic!!
-
Grats on the Axanthic Pin getting it done for you Corey. Good luck with him and the other pair.

This one is for Deborah ;)
I never get tired of seeing this pair together...... 3650g of Albino power on their 3rd lock of this season ;)
This girl was purchased as a proven breeder from Deborah and laid us 8 eggs at 2204g last season (May 2014) to the same 1.0 Albino Enchi. She is now 2900g empty off a fresh shed yesterday. She makes the 750g 1.0 Albino Enchi look like a hatchling!! Nice cold front and some rain came through and they were locked within a few hours :gj:
Their babies looked spectacular last season. We hit 0.3 Albino Enchis!!

:D Boy has she grown so glad she is doing so well for you, shows proven breeders are not a bad thing.

Been waiting on this one....
Third pairing is a charm. I think they have locked before and we just didn't catch them in the act. She laid 7 eggs last season to a 1.0 Sugar Fire at 1670g. Sitting at a nice plump 2200g this season!!
1.0 Enchi Pied x Super Pastel 12F1:

I think the 1.0 Nuclear Pinstripe gets the breeder of the year award here. 18 locks so far with 8 females.
Pair #26 of the season caught in the act....

Keep up the good work Corey. Congrats on the Nuclear Clown. I'll see you around.

Re: CD Constrictors 2014-2015 Breeding Thread
Can you post a few pics of the enchi pied boy? Curious to see what they look like. Looks like he's very low white. That the norm with them?
Those albino enchis are smoking. I may need to look into them more... Not a huge albino or enchi fan even. [emoji14]

Nothing super exciting, but the Clown action is finally getting rolling this season!! Note the sperm plugs from another male on the shelf ;)

29 solid locking pairs so far this season (most all with multiple locks). Much easier to link the website page than to post them all here. About a dozen females have not had visible locks yet, but hoping to eventually catch them in the act. Just a few weeks till the first eggs are expected ;)

Kicking butt Corey! Very cool! Good luck this season!

This girl marks the 10th ovy of the season.
This doesn't happen very often..... 0.1 Albino ovulated exactly the same day as last season!! Originally from Deborah as a proven breeder ;)

Can't keep track of pairings everywhere, so I am using the website to keep a handle on pairings along with the good old pen and paper :)
The train should come off the tracks in the next month with eggs. 1/3 of our females are early girls ;)

Long day of work for all involved. Did a 28 head sprinkler job and came home to this....
She actually still had one left in her, so 7 total eggs (1 with weak veins).
