Male ball python tail wagging
I've done some searching on here and found articles about females tail wagging, but my male pinstripe has been doing it when he smells my normal male. Do males tail wag? This is my first year trying to breed my ball pythons so kinda curious. [emoji12]
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
Are you positive he is a male?
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
I had him probed by someone and they said he probed male. I'm going out for rats tomorrow and the girl that works there said she can probe I guess I should get a second opinion
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
My male tail wags sometimes when I have him out after I've had out my females. He can smell them and he gets excited lol.

I thought that was the case to but when I put him in with my normal girl he showed absolutely no interest

Just give him time. [emoji4] He will figure it out. If this is his first year breeding he's still a newbie to the whole breeding thing so it may take him a little while to make a move on the female lol.

Thanks for the encouragement, I'm gonna get him re-promed just in case. If he comes out male again I'll stick him back in with my normal. Got a big proven pastel I really want to take him to as well.

Sweet! Keep us updated. Oh also try pairing them up during a storm. A lot of breeders do that because they say it makes the males frisky lol :P but it works apparently! So give it a try [emoji4]

Not sure when it's gonna rain again here in Arizona but I'll keep that in mind.[emoji2]
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
And I'll definitely keep everyone updated
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
One of my males (Desert pinstripe actually, maybe it's a pin thing? XD) tail wags sometimes too. He has really only done it when he is super excited about eating though. Like a dog. Haha.
I was also incredibly confused but somebody reassured me that some males just do it.
Maybe he's not doing it to try and entice the other male (the reason females do it), maybe he's trying to put his scent down to tell the other male "Hey buddy this is my space" sorta. I know ball pythons aren't particularly territorial but they do show aggression towards other males when they're trying to breed. So I would guess it's not out of the realm of possibility. Just a thought :)

Rain would be nice. In retro spec he may have been tail wagging at the scent of my pastel girl. I was cleaning tubs and so the scents of all the snakes were all over the place. Maybe I'll put him in with my pastel and see what happens
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
Well the pinstripe probed male. Time to try again
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
I'm terribly sorry. I know how hard it is to hear that your son is gay but you can pull through it. You just have to support him.
Re: Male ball python tail wagging
I just laughed so hard when I read that. You guys are hilarious
