Should I feed her pinky or fuzzy.
I just purchase my first Pied Ball Python sat and I'm a little bit confuse if I should feed her pinkies or fuzzies. She's a year old and this will be my first time feeding her since I brought her home.

At a year old she should be eating much larger prey items right now. Like weaned rats or small rats. Do you know how much she weighs? That will help us determine which feeder size would be best for her since ball pythons can be at all sorts of different sizes at a year old.

I really don't know how much she weighs do to me not having anything to weigh her with but if you have any suggestions on what to purchase or how I could do it I'll appreciate it. The guy a bought her from said he was trying to start her on hoppers but she really didn't care for them. That's why I'm kind of confused & I never had one this young before.

She also (don't know if I'm saying this right) doesn't have a lot of thickness to her. And the hoppers at my pet store are a lot larger in the middle then her thickness part on her body.

A hatchling can take a mouse hopper. At a year old yours should be at least on adult mice or rat weanlings, if not small rats.

WalMart and Target sell digital kitchen scales that can give weights in both grams and pounds, they're about $20-25. I purchased a model with a low, wide profile so my larger snakes wouldn't knock the bin off of it.

Take a photo of your snake next to a can of pop, so we can see how large she is.

My albino is three months old and downing rat pups with ease. I would think at a year they should be eating small rats..

A year old is way to big for either prey mentioned, to give you an idea they get started out of the egg on rat crawler or hopper mice.

Now I can't tell you what exact size you should feed since a year old does not mean much to me as snakes grow at different rate, however I can tell you that for now you need to feed a prey equal the animal's girth size (widest part of your BP's body), and once full grown your BP will not require anything larger than a small/medium rat.

Are you sure it's not a month old? I think that's the weight of the pied I had at about a month or so.

Mouse hoppers are fine at 67g.

On a sidenote, if your snake is 67g it is either unlikely she is actually a year old, or the person you bought her from was literally starving her. 67g is around the size of a ball python when it hatches.

Not a year old than, feed whatever was previously offered by the breeder either Mouse Hopper or Rat Crawler.

Agree at 67 grams would be maybe a few weeks old, a couple months at most.

Was your little girl advertised as being a year old? Because if I'd paid for a year old pied female I'd expect to receive a BP that was a lot bigger than 67 grams.

That's why I'm worry about giving her hoppers cause she's not that girthy at her widest part.

He told me he was trying to get her to eat hoppers but she didn't care for them.

No he didn't advertise her as a year old but I did ask about her age when I went to get her.

Because she is 67g how often should I feed her to get her weight up.

I would personally feed her rat pups at that size, and every 5-7 days very consistently to get her weight up. "She didn't care for them" sounds like he was just starving her. 67 grams is just SO tiny for a year old! Poor thing...

You can do every 5 days. If you get her feeding consistently every 5 days she'll put on weight in no time.

Well I fed her a rut hopper yesterday and she took it beautifully so I'm starting to believe the guy I bought her from was lying through his teeth.

He also said he was a breeder as well..but...yea.
