Snake signalling when poop/urine in hide?
Maybe it's just my imagination, but I believe my snake gives "signals" when he's fouled the cage ... notably when in one of its two hides..
Specifically, thermometers (both) are turned over, despite being velcro-fastened to the sides of the cage, the climbing branch is laying flat on the cage surface, and the "substrate" - in my case Eco-carpet - is bunched up, and the rectangular water bowl has been re-oriented. The snake, as expected, is in the opposite hide from the one that's been fouled. I can understand how no creature likes to be close to waste matter, but...am I imagining things, or is this just a normal consequence of stress or discomfort?
Re: Snake signalling when poop/urine in hide?
None of my 18 snakes do this, but that doesn't mean that yours isn't doing what you think he's doing. They've all got their own personality quirks and I think that snakes are more intelligent than people give them credit for. It paints a funny picture...snake running away from poop as fast as he can and leaving a trail of destruction on the way to the opposite side of the enclosure :P
Re: Snake signalling when poop/urine in hide?
I always know when mine make a mess. They will stay on the opposite side and avoid it like the plauge ha

I call those potty trained! They get a new water dish and clean water, the contents of the old one go down the toilet, and the dirty dish goes into the dishwasher.
Don't get me started on "artists"... :weirdface

Only problem with water bowlers I'd think is it's trickier to go on holiday or something and leave them for awhile.
I guess I should be open to appreciating new art forms.. :P

Now there's a novel concept...
I would leave multiple water bowls, it's not likely they'd foul two of them over a few days.

Yes mine pooped in the water bowl too. I figured he had the right idea but simply didn't realize there's no handle to flush.
So...if going away for a while I thought I could also put in a water bowl that's too small for him to do his business in, but large enough to get a drink from.
