I fell in love with this Lil guy the moment I laid eyes on him (just like the other 3). I'm thinking the Mojave is my new favorite morph as well. And awesome congrats, I will be on the lookout for pictures of her (:

Awesome shots! I would have more of Zillo but she is so tiny and we haven't had her a week yet, she gets scared when we take her out and strikes at who ever isn't holding her. I think LLL had her hatch date in the first week of august. I am gonna let her get a mouse in her this weekend and then try to handle her for 5 minutes or so a couple of days later. She really seems to dislike my hair (its really long)... She has struck at it a few times now when I turn around.

Yeah....but my first was 9 months old when I got her. No nippyness, no skittishness, never missed a feeding And was already on small adult mice almost to rat pups. Now I know she can handle even a very very large rat pup...probably the next size up. I am ordering bulk food for them tomorrow. I just don't want to order 25 of the wrong thing ya know?

Oh yea I completely understand. I've got 4, my first normal girl is on lrg mice (she refuses to switch to rats)and she was never nippy, second normal girl is on live small mice(she refuses f/t) was never nippy, my pinstripe female and the mojave male are both on f/t hoppers she's about 3 months and was never nippy either, but today when I talked to breeder he said lil MOJO was only about a month old when I got him so he's still afraid of anything coming or going lol. Do u have a snake hook? I am working on hook training him so that when I reach in I'm not dinner lol. I fed today so I have another 2 days before handling again but I plan to work with him lots to hopefully get him out of trying to bite me every time I get him out. He's so skiddish that when he's out if I move the opposite hand I'm holding him in he will coil up ready to strike it. He's a feisty lil sucker lol.

I don't have a hook ATM...I have been tossing the idea around but my wife likes to tease me about it. In her words, I can face wild game, repair small engines, free climb 20m rock faces, and other amateur feats of sophomoric masculine pomposity but a 80 gram, nonvenomous snake requires an elongated tool. She might know me too well. Is hook usage considered a good idea? Also, does anyone happen to use arctic mice brand frozen feeders? I ask because is am getting ready to order bulk from a website and I want to ensure that the size I order is the same as i usually see in the stores. A pack of 50 feeders that are way off in size is a waste I can't justify to my very Irish and redheaded wife.

I honestly read on here in other people's threads about the hook training. From what I've read most do the same thing each time they go to get the snake out (so for instance in my case, I lightly tap him on the head one time then reach in, that usually gets him out of strike position, and what I've read has said to stay consistent with that same motion each time) I'm hoping he will grow out of the nippy-ness soon since he's the only one I use the hook with.
I have in fact used the artic mice (I bought them from petsmart before I found my local guy) they tend to be the same size as what you would normally get, and of course just like anywhere else, you have some smaller some a little larger. But you may want to Google about artic mice I heard they had a recall of some sort, so I'd definitely check into that. (Again I'm not 100% if that's been recent or months ago, none the less better to check than have something happen to your babies)

Thank you! Yes Arctic Mice did have a major recall. It was several months ago and they have changed their process now. Seems that their 3rd party distribution wasn't refrigerating properly. Salmonella became a huge issue. Now they use photo-irradiation before, during, and after the freeze process. That isn't why I'm changing though. Arctic Mice cost over $2.00 each no matter what size you buy. Fek that!!! The wholesaler I'm gonna order from is only about 50¢ per hopper and about 75¢ per weaned rat. At that price shipping is way more expensive than the feeders are. So I got permission to bulk order. $20 - $30 per month for Arctic Mice is way more than $100 - $120 per year for bulk orders.

Oh yea I know, before I found the guy I get mine from I was buying artic from petsmart 12$ for 4 large mice, ridiculous when just Tuesday I bought all 3 of mine that take f/t mice for under 15$ and that will last them this month.

OK so I have had Zillo a week now. I thought I might be good to feed her. I thawed a fuzzy as it was all the damn pet smart had and it will be a week before her bulk order is in. No response....*sigh* Well she is tiny and new here so I tried luring her out of her hide...nothing. I removed the hide from her very gently and teased her with the prey....nothing. I gently picked her up and moved her to a different spot in her enclosure as she only hangs out in one hide...nothing. Then I really got wild. I played with the prey as if it was prancing around her and then lay the thing over her tail like it was asleep...she froze...examined it after about 5 minutes and then decided warm-side hide might be better after all and entered her warm side for the very first time. I am leaving the prey at the entrance to the warm hide for a bit to see if she will take it when I leave her alone.http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...5dc49b5d60.jpg

Nope...*Le sigh*! Oh well. I know its because of stress. My own bad. Until today there was no day\night cycle for her because the damn starter kit (I use glass terrariums with 3 sides blocked out and insulated) only comes with a daylight bulb. I couldn't make it to the petstore until today to replace it. Its all good now though...dialed in and spiffy. A few more days and I will try again. When she gets going I will have her on a hopper every 4 days until she can take bigger prey. As soon as she can hit a rat pup its once a week.

So how do you get your babies to feed? Think I am right about stress? She has two identical hides...her temps are good (91° belly, 90°-95° ambient air temp, 80° cool side belly)... Night bulb only for light now...So I gotta think I have her stressed.

I also use glass terrariums with screen tops, my only heat source is red heat lamp (which is on 24/7.
I honestly think I'm just really lucky on the eating side of things 3 of mine ate the day I bought them, the first I waited the week of no handling and letting her get settled in. My second was originally a little pastel girl, she refused to eat and held out over 6weeks weighed in at 59g I think, I traded her for my second normal and the pastel eventually ate after 2 months the breeder has been assist feeding (I will never buy another from petsmart).
Do you have a scale to weigh her with? And do you know when the last time she ate was?
I'm honestly new to BPs I've only had them since July, so I really don't know much more than the basics, and what I've learned on this amazing forum. I'd say leave her be for now until next feeding day and try again. Give her a little more time to settle in.
http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...e60e31d006.jpg Here is a picture of my set up for 2 BPs, my other 2 are in 20 gal terrariums. Also, do you have it cluttered enough? they tend to like feeling like they're in a small space.

    Re: Meet MOJO
I don't have exact details about weight and last feed as I don't have a scale yet and I didn't think to ask for the feed schedule. I got her from LLL so I would think they feed weekly. I really like your dual terrarium setup there... very nice. I don't have the amount of clutter you do but 2 hides, plastic leafy vines, moss, small water bowl. It does leave quite a blank area in front but I am planning to add more homemade terracotta hides and grass clutter soon. I also need to straighten the leaf vines and move them foward morehttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...f42960f065.jpg
