    My BP is HUGE...why?
So my female BP was born July 5, 2014 so she's about 2.5 months old. She's already 175 grams!! That seems really big to me, but I may be wrong. She never ever misses a meal and is eating a large mouse every 5 days (no bulge). Is this normal? And where can I get rats that I don't have to order 100 of them? Haha

Good growth for hatchlings can be 100 grams a month, so yes - you're doing it right. :gj:

What have you been feeding it! LOL, just kidding. I have a female Enchi born July 3rd that's about the same weight as yours, so it seems reasonable to me that she would be this big.

That's not huge, that is what can be expected with appropriated size meal every 5 days.

The more you feed the bigger they get in less time.

Haha well leave it to the first time owner to think she's huge. Everything I read about average size with mice is at least 40 grams under her weight. I need to switch her to rats, but ordering them is so expensive for only one snake

On a more important note...what are you feeding yours? I want to make sure mine is an appropriate sized meal, but diameter of the mouse and diameter of the snake are not easy to compare it seems. It's because I'm new to all of this, but I do want to be informed

You should be fine with the large mice for now, you could also go with 2 medium mice per feeding. You could also look in your area for breeders, I have two that I know of around me so every week or two I drive over and grab a bunch of mice. I've been toying with the idea of breeding my own but I really don't have a very good place for them. My other challenge is that several of my snakes are still on weaned mice while the rest are on medium to large, so I need different sizes for everyone. Perhaps once everyone is on medium rats I'll reconsider breeding them.

Do you know of any breeders in the Raleigh, NC area?

I didn't realize you were close by. LOL

I don't know of any in Raleigh, if anyone does please feel free to let us know. The people I'm buying from are either in High Point or over by Winston-Salem. Both are just over an hour from me so it's not bad but certainly not convenient either.

That's not bad at all. How much do they charge you for what you get?

Frank at Cold Blooded Novelties usually charges me about $.50 each for live mice which is really fair I think. The bigger expense tends to be gas as my car only gets about 19mpg. If you're interested in working out some kind of arraignment PM me and perhaps I can grab some mice or rats for you on my trips

Does he have anything frozen? And does he have rats? I prefer both, as my girl is about to switch to the much more nutritious rodent

I just sold a male hatchling that was 55 grams at hatch and 175 grams at 54 days old!!!! I feed/ offer hatchlings meals twice weekly. That one never missed a meal.

I think one of mine is huge for its age. The bumblebee in my avatar pic was born July 8, 2013 and he is now around 900 grams. He's close to catching and surpassing my fire spider who is a year older.

That's not huge by any means either. At around the same age (14.5 months), my Enchi girl was 2000 grams. ;)

Sorry just saw this. He does have rats and I'm pretty sure he does frozen as well.

Any way you could get in contact with him and find a price on frozen rats based on size and quantity?

Check out his website, cold blooded novelties. He should have pricing info on there. :gj:

He's got live in most sizes, but only large and jumbo frozen. I may call and see if he'll kill them for me and I can freeze them myself. I need some pups and weanlings

Well I sure hope my little fire bee grows that fast once she gets used to eating. I can't wait to see her with some size.....
