NEW MUTATION (to my humble opinion...)
    Hi All,
Here are some pics of the babies I got on a project I'm working on since a few years. A few years ago I had a clutch that gave me Pastels that all look "strange" and better than Pastels. I kept them all and paired them this winter. Here is the result. I thought it was worth to share it with you.
    Hope you'll enjoy them !

Wow! Where did the blood line come from? Did you just make a couple lucky purchases and made the right breeding pairs? It looks like a very strange butter black pastel with some twists lol Did both Pastel parents have that extreme back blushing or just one? I'm wondering if it's a co-dom thing? I'll for sure be interested to see how those little things turn out as they get older and/or clutch mate pics! Congrats on the awesome snake!

    Hi
Thank you very much for congrats and comments.
The parents are on the pics in my post.
In order of appearence you have:
Mother of the baby on her clutch
    Sister of mother and father
    Sister of mother and father
    Father

I have to find the exact lineage in my database where I record all the information about my breeding. Unfortunetaly and due to lack of time, this database is offline. But I asked it to be activated to get accurate information.
What I remember is that I bred a classic Pastel to a normal female and the pastel babies had a strange look enough to be kept for projects.
I grew up the babies and paired a brother and a sister together last season. I've tried other pairings but had no eggs.
The female paired with his brother gave me the baby you can see on the pics and other ones that I have to post (but I must say that I'm not used to post pics and that it takes a lot of time to me).

In fact since many years I keep for future projets strange looking ball pythons with what I think to be markers and it seems that this year patience and work has finally paid. I have 2 other clutch from weird balls with strange looking babies.
I will post some pics if I can find time.
Talking about this I have many dinkers I brought back from Africa, hand picked just right out of the eggs available on my website... ;-)

What is sure is that I will renew the experience with sisters and of course father this year. The other thing is that I have to make it clear with what I already have... As you will see on the pics I'll post, it seems that I have 3 "combo": one like the baby shown here, one looking like "banded clown" and the last one like strange super pastel...

    Thank you.

Omg everything in that clutch looks amazing!! You really hit it big time on this pairing, I'd hold all those babies back. Thanks so much for sharing this new mutation with us :) keep us updated with your progress with it. I might have to add one of these to my collection.

Wow! That is one great looking clutch, especially impressive considering the small sample size to have such variation. Do you still have the original normal female that bore all of the first clutch and do you think she is potentially carrying half of what made the first pastels kind of special? Thanks for sharing.

This is amazing. I never thought that ball pythons that look like pastels could ever produce something amazing like that.

Amazing clutch! The offspring look like Pastel + new gene and Super Pastels + new gene! Really nice offspring and I hope you can isolate this new mutation!

Thank you very much to All of you for your compliments, I really appreciate !

I do agree with you when you say Pastel + new gene etc. And I think that maybe the new gene is visible on the more "classic" baby that has little pattern on the sides.

I will keep all the clutch and as I kept all the parents of these babies' family and as they are ready to breed now, I expect to find clues about genetic and of course produce more of them.
Just have to find out with what morph pairing the male... I have a special line of Lesser (Light Lesser) wich proved out to be genetic as well.

As we say in France, a good news never comes alone, and I will share more pics of what seems to be at least 2 more new morphs I proved out this season...

    Have a nice day.

Stunning! I really love that baby (all of them, actually...) & It's awesome seeing these new morphs being created! I've been out of the hobby a couple years and the morphs i'm seeing now are just killin me! Congratulations on those beauties :-)
