Still extremely light at three and a half
I took Figment out for some pictures yesterday. Still going through them all, but she's looking good!

Aww thanks :P I'm always really bad at finding my threads again (just always too busy) so I don't think I had ever thanked you before! She is a special little boa (well, kinda big boa).

Thanks! Boas are amazing! Easily my favorite snake.

    Looks great Shann!

I really like how the colors on your boa are so different from the ones my guy. Mine has a lot of the brown/red saddles and some pinks.

Your's has the inky blacks and cream colors. I guess that's the beauty of boas, the natural variation in color. I'm not really into morphs myself, so I appreciate the natural colors a whole bunch.

    (Nothing against morphs though)

You've got a really neat boa there.

I will say, if you love boas, carpet pythons are HIGHLY recommended! I can't pick a favorite which is good, but I think you'd enjoy one.

Figment is consistently beautiful. Keep up the good work!

Hope you are back to 100% too.

Your boa is absolutely gorgeous! Probably one of the best looking I've ever seen! Just a question, I'm not good with boa morphs but is this girl a certain morph or is she like a wild type? I've seen a few pictures of her full length and I love her color. If I don't get a retic this week, I'll probably pick up a boa at the next reptile show.

Not a morph. She is a beautiful example of a Colombian BCI. There is a lot of variation in "common boas" and without specific locality info you can never be 100% certain as to what may be in the mix.

Just to show the differences. Here is my Barranquilla, Colombian boa.

Notice how he lacks the blacks that Figment has.

I'm a huge fan of Shann's boa and love the coloring.

I'm only posting my photo for an example.

Wow,,, a retic or a boa?? That is a tough choice. I love, LOVE boas, but I'm very interested in SD retics. The mainlands and dwarf versions are just too large for me to enjoy.

    Keep us posted.

Wow, that's a beautiful boa! Yes, I've always loved boas. I've been wanting a Colombian or Hog Island for a few years now but then I started reading about retics and came across the tiger morph and was instantly hooked! I'm having the worst time deciding which to get. Ultimately, it depends upon the extra money I have leftover this week after I buy my new bedroom set and if not, I'll probably have to wait until next season. I really want to get this high percentage dwarf tiger or possibly an SD Tiger if I'm lucky. These beautiful boas are making me think again though :D

I'm by no means a morph guy, but the Tiger retic is probably my favorite pattern of all snakes.

I do hear and have read that mainland tiger retics get to be some of the largest out there. Just a thought if you want something manageable.

If you want some size but in a more manageable package, BCC or female BCI like Figment might be for you.

I have to keep this thread "Figment friendly" LOL! I don't want to change the whole topic.

Definitely! Figment is truly a stunning Boa nonetheless. Hopefully, I can find one as pretty as she is :)

Thanks for the compliments! Gio is right, Figment is just a light colored normal. She came from a reptile shop that bred their own boas and was sold as an "aberrant red tail boa" because she had been bred for a slightly abnormal pattern and lighter color. Unfortunately the place closed down right after I purchased her, so I never did get to see the parents like I had planned, or get any further information about them. But all of her siblings I have seen since still have the same light coloring that she has. I personally am a huge fan of normals for the same reasons as Gio. There is so much variety and I think boas have such a striking look to them. I'm not much of a morph person, myself, and plan on mostly getting different localities of BCC and BCI in the near future.

I can't say enough good things about boas. They generally have great personalities and stay a much more manageable size than the giants. They typically are docile, eat well, are willing to be handled, and are typically active and fun to watch at night. Boas are easily my favorite reptile.

    Well said!

It's funny how I want what I don't have. I adore my snake, and that's not because he's mine but because I love his pattern and look. I was drawn to his line and really never wanted anything else other than an Iquitos, Peruvian BCC or a Brazilian BCC. But when it came to a BCI, the Rentfro line of Colombians was it.

HOWEVER,,,,, I see a nice light, cream boa with the inky blacks and I go nuts.

    That's boas!!

    Figment looks great! Love her.
