    Advice on picking new male
My spinner BP male died without warning a month ago. I am now left with a breeding size normal, pastel and cinnamon females n a. 500g black pastel. Now that I dnt have a breeding male I need one to replace the spinner. Just wanted some advice as to what kind of male would be good for my females in your opinion. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Thanks!!!

Before I can make suggestions I gotta ask what sort of money you're willing to spend haha

Get the most genes for the money, based on the females you have some mojave or lesser combo would be what I would recommend but ultimately you need to ask yourself, what do you really want to produce.

I think it comes down to what you want to produce, and maybe more importantly money ;)

    Enchi Bee
    Spinner
    Spenchi
BEL (Mohave Lesser, Super Mohave, or Super Lesser)
    BEL (Super Fire)

I think that a lesser combo would go great with your females. Look at a lesser enchi combo. Enchis make most combos really stand out in my opinion. Also agree that a pewter would be nice if you want to make super cinnys or super black pastels.

Like Deborah said, it depends on what you want to produce. That being said, you'll get a lot of possibilities, and bang for your buck, with an Enchi Fire Mojave. I think Constrictors Unlimited may have some examples to look at.

I completely agree with the Banana/Coral glow!

Especially with a Cinnamon girl, those Cinnaglows are AMAZING :D

if it were me, I would get a morph that was one of my must haves or a morph that would help create one of my must haves within my budget.

Before getting another animal, I would ask myself:

"Why did my bp die unexpectedly"......

I don't have any idea. It appeared to be a healthy snake. No mites, respitory infection, and was eating like a horse. It was in a rack with all my other bps in same controlled environment. It appeared fine one day. Nxt morning dead as a rock.

To answer the money question right now I'm looking $500 and under but in no hurry. If I wait a few months I may be able to double or even triple that. I'd love a banana but outside my budget at the moment.

Although it can happen, if I were you I would wait for a few months before you introduce another snake. What are you going to do if you introduce a new snake, and 2 more of your females die "unexpectedly"? I recognize that you don't want to miss a breeding season, but there are more important things than breeding - like being responsible.

If your dog or cat suddenly died, wouldn't you want to know why? Maybe it's just me - but if my animal dies, I look into it.

    No necropsy?

At any rate, the male passed away a month ago. Even if you purchased another male today you should still QT it for 90 days. After that you would know whether or not the females were also exposed to anything potentially contagious from the one that passed away.

Personally I would wait a month or so just to be safe before buying the male, especially if that means you can afford a much better one.

No, no necropsy. And yes I've given up on breeding this yr as I always do a 90 day qt so I'm in no rush at all.

Went to the Taylor, Mi reptile show Saturday and there was a guy selling nice looking male maker bananas for $350. I had the money on me but did the responsible thing and got parts for my pickup instead. Now I'm wishing I hadn't lol. Had another breeder offer me a spider het axanthic male and a het axanthic female for $200. They've produced 2 clutchs so far and 3 axanthic spiders. Also very tempting lol.
