Re: Ball python vommit twice
Hi,
It might be worth running through your temps to see what fine means - what are the cold end and hot end temps inside the hides?
How long did you wait after the regurges before offering food again?
-
And your temps would be??
Also how long did you wait after the first gurge to try and feed again?

Don't you love the drive by style of some post? Hey I have an issue so here's a crumb of information. I'll check back later when you have a solution I didn't give enough information to solve.:O
Sorry, that's been building up and needed to be let out before my head popped off. :taz:

Re: Ball python vommit twice
The others have posed some very good questions that need answering.
I recently had a similar issue with a breeding female of mine. I would wait 4-5 weeks between meals and she was still regurgitating. I had to take her to the vet and was given some oral antibiotics. After a 7-day course of treatment and 3 more weeks of waiting, my girl finally could hold down a meal.
Normal regurgitation protocol is waiting 10-14 days before offering another meal. This gives the digestive tract time to replenish the enzymes lost when the snake regurgitates. Then, after waiting about 14 days, offer a MUCH smaller meal than you usually would feed. If your snake is still regurgitating, a vet trip may be in order. If you do need to see a vet, I'd be happy to explain more about my snake's issue so you can talk about it with your vet.

Re: Ball python vommit twice
It can be due to several things and you will need to narrow it down, in the mean time NO feeding for at least 2 weeks, and if in two weeks it happens again you need to go to a vet.
It can be an improperly thawed prey if you feed f/t
Stress
Temps to low not allowing for proper digestion
Internal parasites

Re: Ball python vommit twice
The temps are 30 Celsius in the warm side, and 27 in the cold side.
i am breeding the mice at home, the first one he vomited was store bought, the second one was mine.
first one was rat, second was mouse. both of the were fed live.
humidity is about 60%
substrate is newspaper.
he had RI a few months ago and then he didn't eat for about five weeks, he got pretty under weight. then after few visits to the vet he got shots of antibiotics, and he started eating again, he started looking better, gaining weight, but he is still underweight, skinny, and you can see his spine.
2 weeks ago he did not want to eat, then after that he fed and then vomited out the rat, the next week i offered a small mouse, but he vomited out that one aswell.
I do not handle him, only when i take him out to clean the cage.

Re: Ball python vommit twice
heat source is a 50w infrared heat bulb. it is in a home built melamine viv.

5 weeks isn't a long time without eating.
Wait a couple weeks before trying to feed again and then see what happens.

Re: Ball python vommit twice
I know 5 weeks isn't a long time, but i am worried about the weight loss.
Ive been keeping track of his weight sinc i got him:
maj. 22.- 222g
jul. 7. - 206g (when he got sick)
jul. 11. - 190g
aug. 18. 168g
I will wait 2 weeks before i offer him a small mouse, and hope everything will be fine.
Thanks for all the help!

Did you properly seal the Melamine. He can excrete gas's when hot/humid if not properly sealed.

This is the same ball python that had the RI.................
When taken together, the vomiting, the weight loss and the RI can point to some fairly serious problems.

You should bump the hot side up to 32c but the cool temps are fine.
I'd definitely wait at least 14 days before trying another small meal but Skip is right - can see see a picture of him to judge his body condition?
