Legendary comedian Robin Williams, 63, was found dead in his own home today of an apparent suicide. :(

O Captain! My Captain!

This is the first celebrity death in my lifetime that has brought me to actual tears. I don't know what to say or to even think.

I saw this earlier and actually thought it was a hoax at first. :( I grew up watching Mrs. Doubtfire, Hook, Patch Adams, Aladdin...

As sad as it is to hear he passed, hopefully it will also bring more attention to those suffering from depression and other mental illnesses. It's always the ones who seem the happiest or the strongest that often need a helping hand the most. :please:

He always seemed so happy, guess thats why it shocked me. Shows that no matter who you are and what you appear to be you can have really rough patches in your life.

He was pretty open about his issues. He even did stand up about it.

He was a great comedian. I really enjoyed him.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman too who in my opinion is by far the most under rated actor of all time. Both of these guys have done a lot especially Robin Williams. It's crazy how depression and addition work....

Given that I am Irish I was brought up when it comes to the death of a loved one, and Robin is no exception to this, its best to remember his life rather than be sad about his passing. Yeah its sad, like many of you I grew up watching his movies and stand up specials, there is a multitude of material that he has done that can be watched to remember him by.

You hear of celebrities OD'ing, or DUI and killing themselves and think "Oh well stupid bastard deserved it". I am truly saddened at the loss of this man. There have been many funny people, many giving people and many wonderful spirits. There have been very very few funny giving wonderful spirits like Robin Williams.

I hope his family knows they are in millions of people's prayers.

I enjoyed him ever since he was on Happy Days. Yes, I'm that old. My favorite movies of his are The World According to Garp, Good Will Hunting, and The Fisher King. I remember when Garp first came out and people were like, "that's not funny". I was like, no kidding Sherlock, it's a tragedy. Everyone just assumed because it was Robin Williams it was going to be a comedy. I suppose that's why it wasn't commercially successful. Never the less I loved it and was especially fond of John Lithgow's acting in there.

Robin's genius will be missed. Thank you for the memories.

You never really know how the death of a celebrity can effect us until someone as touching and cherished as Robin Williams passes. He was an amazing individual and a wonderful talent. He will be missed.

I am truly saddened by this man's death. I loved him for his comedy and acting. It is just a shame that he was silently suffering on the inside.
