Only 1 day left! Fight the Constrictor Ban!

If you care about your rights to keep pets, please help fight against the proposed new constrictor rule and ban!

There is only 1 day left to submit public comments to Fish and Wildlife Services!


Boa constrictor, Reticulated python, DeSchauensee’s anaconda, Green anaconda and Beni anaconda are proposed to be added to the Lacey Act, which would ban interstate transportation/commerce and importation.

They'll hit large constrictors first, but our ball pythons are NOT SAFE!
All reptiles are at risk! It will eventually happen to our other exotic pets. Your rats, birds, ferrets, etc. Even cats and dogs are not safe!

Posted one... and shared on FB. Not that the government cares what we, the tax payers, think, but maybe it'll do some good.

Also, there's a typo in the post the mods can't change. It's 1 day left. Not 2.

I don't think the government cares either, but we can still try and bring awareness.

There are 43,000 members on this site...even if only half are active, that still leaves a huge number. The reptile community is failing itself. 3082 comments is nothing compared to how many people consider themselves in the reptile hobby/ industry. When you look at the numbers, it seems that we don't even care. Why should anyone else?

If they take boas, the only next logical thing is ball pythons. I don't think the majority of people on here realize just how serious this is in regards to "us."

Left a comment, thanks for raising awareness of this issue. It's sad that this is the second time I've had to comment on a proposed regulation today (first was in regards to the FAA's drone policy). I guess some people just need to feel in control of the American people and their hobbies. :mad:

I've been posting about this on FB a lot. It's sad how few comments it has considering how many people keep the snakes. Oh well, when they come for the ball pythons at least I'll be able to say I tried. *shrugs*

I'm in Afghanistan in the marine corps, can't load the page enough to leave a comment so someone please leave an extra one for me!!! I love my bp's. I don't have a boa but I love them and wouldn't want anyone boas to lose their passion.

Yes, I know, post on a necro thread but there is an update from USARK:

Dan Ashe (Director of USFWS) has reported he will be announcing a finalization to the Constrictor Rule via a press conference at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Boynton Beach, FL tomorrow (3/6/15) at 12:00 PM EST. USARK will provide additional information as it becomes available.
