What do you feed your snakes?
What do you feed your ball pythons and how often? Just would like to hear different opinions and what you do :)

My case is a little different. I received a rescue female. Who was at best guess at least a year old (she had been with her previous owner for at least 12 months). She was 150 odd grams, and not in the best shape. She was being fed a fuzzie mouse every 7 - 10 days. Which was far too little.

For the first 2 weeks, I fed her 2 fuzzie mice every 5 days, because I knew she would take them. Eventually I switched to rat pups, and then to 2x Rat pups every 7 - 10 days. Which she's been great on. Next step is weaned rats, and so on and so fourth. Every 7 days if she's actively looking by day 5, I'll typically offer, and she'll typically take it.

She's tripled in weight since I received her, and doing great.

I just moved my girl up to mice hoppers and I'm probably going to move her up from that pretty soon as well!

    I feed every 4-5 days.

One of mine still eats large mice and the rest vary from small to medium rats.

I feed my male one medium rat a week, however he'd happily eat as many as he could every day.

At the pet store I got him from they were feeding him 2 jumbo mice a feeding, but they were still small for him. When I first got him he was 575 grams. I meant to weigh him again but I just fed him yesterday. The rats are about 100g each and he is always looking for more.

I usually feed every 7 days but sometimes it's every 6 days.

7-10 days. My adults get 1 Med rat f/t. My small guy is still picky about rats so it changes between pups (when I can trick him into thinking its a mouse) and adult mice. He obviously prefers the mice. He gets offered food every 5-7 days unless he is on a strike then its 4-5 days.

Very interesting everyone, amazing how they are all on different paces huh?

My adult female is so picky! I did have her at a large rat once a month but I'm trying to get her to a small rat every week at least. I have a pastel male that only eats when he feels like it then goes up to 6 months off every year without eating. My 9 month old black pastel eats a large rat once a month with no problem (I know he's a monster!). But he will take a medium rat every two weeks. I have a little girl who refused to eat the first two months I go her bc she was used to live and now she's eating a large mouse once a week, but I hope to switch her to rats soon. And I have a 3,800g female that hasn't ate since March..she isn't even interested!

    Hello .
I have a small mojave male I purchased last week and he just ate for the first time yesterday. I fed him a small mouse. I also have a yearling that is eating medium mice every 4 days. The last is a het clown male that is about 5 months old and he's eating a medium mouse every 8 days. I want to feed my female large mice but I'm not sure if she is ready. She is a rescue and she was in very bad shape when I got her...

What guide are you following? Going by the standard practice of 10-15% of the snakes weight you are over feeding you ball unless its around 2000 grams.

To answer this broad question I feed everything from mice pinks to XXL rats usually on a 2week schedule.

I happily got my ball onto F/T rats from live mice without a problem! I was putting it off cuz I didn't want the headache but the mice were just too small. So, bought a frozen rat, and he ate like a champ! :)

My scale busted but I'm trying to get my hands on another. So I'm not 100% sure on his weight but as far as large rats go, they are the same size as the thickest part on his body. He's honesty a big boy for 9 months in my opinion....but then again the large rats I buy aren't as big as usual large rats. Either way he's growing like crazy and has a huge appetite. Been like that since he was a month old.

My entire collection get offered food (different sized inhouse bred rats) every Tuesday and Thursday. Most eat everytime. Some go off food when in blue and most go off food when they are breeding. The largest sized rat I feed is a med to our 3000g+ female.
