Any experience with Flexarium?

Alright, it feels like I've done all the research possible on BP's and their care. I've wanted one for over 10 years, and now have the space and cash for one. Its come down to the need for an enclosure and an independent pet store recommended the Flexarium, around a 65 Gallon equivalent size. It is a flexible nylon mesh terrarium measuring 30" by 30" by 17". The mesh is fine enough that it could hold in humidity, but is it good enough for my BP?

As for the mesh cage, i would advise against it. I'm not too sure how a mesh cage can hold humidity? Is the whole thing mesh?

You will have a booger of a time providing the optimum environmental conditions for a ball python using a mesh enclosure. If you use one, be prepared to have an entire room that is climate controlled & set to perfect conditions for your snake 24/7/365.

In other words, there are quite a few caging solutions that will be better & more cost effective in the long run, in addition to meeting your snake's needs (which is the #1 priority!).

The mesh is very fine, if you use a spray bottle it actually catches the moisture and holds it in. Really quite neat. It comes with a piece of material for the bottom to hold in substrate or any liquids that spill. It also seems to be escape proof, as the door is secured by two zippers on the outside.

No matter how fine it is, i still dont think that it will provide any different environment than is in the room you are keeping it. Do you have a link to a website that might have some info on it. I'm not saying its impossible, but i am highly doubting it without checking it out for myself.

Looks just like reptarium to me, which means it's excellent for chameleons, probably fine for iggies, workable for cresties, and no good at all for ball pythons. Anything that says it provides "optimal ventilation" is going to be a big challenge to maintain humidity and a good heat gradient in. They're cool enclosures, but I don't have the hours it would take every day to keep that enclosure right for ball python husbandry.

Hmmm, no real official site, just online retailers with brief descriptions. Found a site in Spanish (that sure helps) http://www.reptilica.de/shop/product.../lang/espanol/ that talks about maintaining humidity, but no solid info. Hmm, looks like I'm either building an enclosure or buying an aquarium.

A rubbermaid setup might work out for you. We have a great DIY you might wanna read :)

dang too bad aI dont speak spanish otherwise I could read about the cage and tell you i its good or bad...but I woudlnt use it.

Thanks for the opinions. I'll probably end up using the Rubbermaid idea until I can build a custom enclosure or find a reasonably priced aquarium. Thanks again.

Aquariums are for fish. If you want an enclosure that is going to go the distance, you may want to consider Animal Plastics, Vision or some of the other plastic cage manufacturers. A cage that is specifically designed for reptiles allow for easier environmental control (which is vital) than a glass tank that holds neither heat nor humidty well.

Usually with a ball python, unless you end up with a larger than normal bp, or are going for a nice looking enclosures, you can get a rubbermaid thats decent size for adults. Unless I'm mistaken. :(

Yeah it's ugly as all sin - but frighteningly effective. Yay tupperware!

welcome to the site......rubbermaid is great option. you will find it highly effective. although if you are looking for a display cage, people have successfully kept bp's in an aquarium. although it is a bit more challenging.whatever you decide...good luck.
