Let's see your carpets!!!!
I'm wondering out loud,,,,, "Is it facebook,,, or are there no carpet owners?" Facebook kills a lot of forums.
I am a red tail boa forum junky, but ever since I purchased my carpet I started browsing here.
I'm a bit bummed that the forum is not as busy as the BP forum which has a post every 10 minutes damn near.
If you have a carpet python, you have a very special, neat snake. The semi arboreal characteristics of this species really makes them interesting and they ARE active!!
Let see EM!!
I'll post some updated pictures of mine soon but let's get this thing going.

Here's a recent(ish) shot of old man cheynei tossing back a rat.

Absolutely agree!! They are my favorites now, hands down, and I'll always have one (or two, or three). They're interesting, fun, and beautiful to look at. This is my 1 year old male, looking better than ever -

Re: Let's see your carpets!!!!
Wow,, mouth of the Black Mamba LOL!
I think I'll have to snap a few new pictures of my girl.
She isn't as colorful as some of these, but she is so different from the BC and royal that she seems to glow anyhow.

Re: Let's see your carpets!!!!
Hey LOUD that's a beautiful carpet. Do you mind me asking who/where you got him from? Seriously considering picking up a male in the near future just as a pet but I would love one who would grow into those nice bright yellows.

Haha he's a little badass, alright!! He has plenty of attitude and that's why I love him.
Would love to see pictures of your carpet! I've never seen one that I didn't think was stunning, regardless of color/brightness or whether it's high black or high yellow. There is so much more to carpets that I'm drawn to - head shape, eyes, pattern, and of course, their temperament. Just really awesome snakes :)

Thanks!! And I don't mind at all - I got him from Inland Reptile, and hope to have more carpets from Nick in the future. Mine is just a pet as well, I just figured that if I was getting a snake that'll live 20+ years, might as well go with my favorite look! I asked for a bright, clean yellow and the breeder definitely delivered. And carpets are just great pets regardless... active, almost always in plain sight, and a lot more interactive than I thought a snake would be.

Re: Let's see your carpets!!!!
OK, time to add to the fire so to speak.
This is my coastal, or jungle or coastal x jungle. Both parents are clearly coastal and her colors could change as she is only a year and 2 months old.
This is a skinny little 3 footer. She has settled down a lot in a short time.
Wonderful species of snake.

She was not line bred for any special traits, so the colors are pretty "natural" I guess as far as carpets go in the US.

Inland Reptile is a great spot to learn. I highly recommend the book THE COMPLETE CARPET PYTHON written by the owner of Inland Reptile. Nick Mutton has done an excellent job explaining the various species and after reading his web page and looking through the beginning of the book, I can see that my coastal that looks jungle could very well be coastal. As a matter of fact the DNA is the same so jungle could in a sense be a locality of coastal.
I'm sure as time goes on things will sort out further.
Keep the pictures coming.

I'll bump this and add another photo. Carpets are too cool to ignore.
Head shot!

Re: Let's see your carpets!!!!
Nice! That looks like a regular everyday occurrence in the Land Down Under. I have seen a few videos of these guys out in yards just passing through.
Great looking snake you have there, and I like the natural approach you took getting the picture.

Here's my boy Dante, he's just over a year old.
I love the iridescence on them too.

Very nice of him to even respond.
Your snake is just fantastic.

Thank you!! I'm so glad I decided to go ahead and get a carpet. ^^ Quite a few people were telling me not to due to temperament, but my kiddo's a sweetheart so far.

Yep,, that is a myth about bad temperaments. My boa was just as nippy at a young age. Each individual animal has a personality, but I feel in general, carpets settle down just fine.
Carpets are a really nice option. They get, or can get quite large but not overwhelmingly large. They are VERY semi arboreal and quite active. You actually get to see them doing something on most nights.
They add a bit of excitement to the pet experience, and the colors and patterns are wonderful.

You're right about the iridescence, too, which I never expected. When I took Caution outside for pictures under the sun, I was pretty amazed

This is me exactly. I did get a lot of people discouraging me to get one (which is understandable, as he's my first snake)... but luckily, there were also a lot of people who told me to go for it. A lot of BP forum members told me about their great experiences owning carpets and I was pretty much sold. Very glad I picked a JCP! Would not have wanted anything else.

That is a stunning picture of Caution! <3

Finally Getting Back Into Carpets
So I used to keep carpets a year or so ago and I had to move from that residence, which mandated I relieve myself of some animals including my carpets. Now that I am settled into a larger more secure place, I felt it was time to get me some more carpets. I got in touch with my friends at Psychotic Exotics and pulled the trigger on two females to start me off.
First off is a '13 Darwin x Coastal Jag and she is gorgeous;

The second lovely lady I picked up is a nice looking Jungle;

I cannot wait to watch these two grow and slowly increase my carpet collection.
Thanks for looking!

Nice pickups. I can't wait to be able to say that im the owner of a carpet python

Re: Let's see your carpets!!!!
No need for a separate thread for this set of pictures. Thanks to everybody who's posted and kept this thread alive.
Here are pictures from today.
These are in the cage pictures. I don't have her perching, instead I have her on a rock hide, and behaving pretty well.
Enjoy this coastal carpet.
