Do any of your snake soak in their water dish DURING THE SHED PROCESS
This question is only for soaking if they are shedding, not for any other reason.

I have heard some people say snakes might soak during a shed. I have owned 11 snakes for about 6 years and have never seen it. Also for anyone I've known to own snakes as well none have them have ever seen it.

I was wondering if this does happen or if it's just something people assume happens or have mistaken it to be because of a shed when it was a separate issue. So what are you experiences with this?

Only a few adult females in pre-lay shed soak in their water dish, other than that none soak in their water bowl previous to a shed.

My Cal-King wallows around in his water dish after he's cleared up, quite a bit. He's young, though, and he doesn't do it every time.

    My BRB soaks often.

Bloods used to when they had a bowl they could fit in.

GTP and Hoggy swim but don't soak.

I have never seen my BP in her bowl.

My current gravid girl has soaked in her water dish each time she's shed since being paired. One of those times she even left her shed in the water.

I asked that myself this week as well. My female spinner is soaking in water right now for the past 3 days. Look like she's about to shed. I removed her last night and today she went back into it. It's a big plastic dog bowl and she fits perfect in it. At the moment she doesn't have a hide and maybe that's one reason she just feels secure in it.

Also check your temperture, might be too hot in there.

Well not exactly. My BRB and bloods will soak from time to time but it was guaranteed during a shed.

I've had a few in the past that did it. None of the ones I have now do, though.

I've seen my Red Tail in her dish a couple times, but never while she was shedding.

counting out the breeding season, mine soak preshed in times of low humidity. Normally they don't because i try to keep high thinkgs in order, but if the ambient air is really dry, it really soaks up humidity out of the snake racks, and there's almost nothing i can do to controll that short of installing humidifiers. I do not see the need since my snakes seem to have enough sense to take a bath if they need exta moisture, and sheds still come off perfect.

I haven't had it happen to me, but I have seen it with others.

Yes, some of mine soak pre-shed. It happens quite a bit with certain females.
