Water

I have seen people using regular tap water, dechlorinated water, water with reptisafe, and gallons of filtered water. What, if any, are the best options? So far I have been using reptisafe or prime to dechlorinate the water.

Fill an empty gallon jug with tap water, keep the lid off and let sit for a day all the chemicals will be gone.
safe, easy and cheep.

just use clean water. dont add anything to it. if its good enough for human consumption, its good enough for your pets.

This works also if you trust that your water is clean!

OK! I do the same water process for my inverts. Also our water quality is pretty good! I'm familiar with the untreated perimeters from keeping some aquariums :)

Not everything will evaporate out of the water in 24 hours. Chlorine does, at least mostly, if the ratio of surface area to volume of water is big enough for the amount of chlorine that needs to come out. Chloramines do not. Chloramines are fatal to fish in large enough doses, and so if you keep aquarium fish it is important to know what is in your tap water. However, I am of the opinion based on lots of anecdotal evidence from myself and lots of others who use water straight out of the tap, that if it is safe for human consumption, it is good enough for the snakes, too. I think fish are more susceptible since they live in it, breathe it, etc, rather than just drinking it.

Filtered water is potentially dangerous as it removes good things as well as bad things from the water. Whether or not the snakes need those traces of calcium and other beneficial stuff that is in water is debatable, but since unfiltered tap water is apparently just fine, I see no reason to use anything else.

Not always true. Some cant have tap water because they are sensitive to the additives

What would one look out for to see if there is sensitivity?

I meant to say some animals. It more than likely is ok to give to your bp. I just prefer to use distilled so i know for sure its safe. I know i dont enjoy my tap water so i dont like giving it to my animals

I've been using store bought bottled gallons of spring water, I read somewhere that was the best option. Been using that for a year with no problems yet, only costs a dollar a bottle.

Keep a reef tank,and with two filter systems(one 4 element,one 5 element),and have all the purest water needed.;)

Ive been using regular tap water out of the faucet and never had any problems. I really don't see the necessity of providing drinking water.

I've been using reptisafe, but once its out, im just going to tape water. I mean watching 100's of youtube vids all the big breeders aswell have them connected to a hose! For the most part they wont be there slurping it up right away anyways, so itll get its time to distill.
