Sellers BEWARE!!
So.... I've had some snakes on KS for a few weeks now. I have been getting inquiries on all of them.
One "buyer" seemed quite interested in purchasing one of them, and said he was sending a USPS MO. Today he called me and asked me if I got the MO so I could take it to the bank and deposit it and ship the snake tomorrow. I wasn't home to see if it had arrived and said I would get back with him.
I arrived home to find an overnight FedEx envelope. Upon opening the envelope, the MO did just not look right. No perforated edges at the top where you tear the receipt off, etc.... AND- it was dated a month before I had put the snake on KS for sale!!
Knowing it was fake, I took the MO to the local USPS. They confirmed what I already knew... it was a fake. The clerk took the MO and the envelope in the back to send it to the Post Master general for fingerprinting. The clerk recommended not to ever deposit a MO in your bank. Even if it is fake, it will generally clear and then be charged back to you once it hits the USPS and they see it is a fake. Any bank can call in the serial number on a real USPS MO and cash it on the spot instead of depositing it, or you can take it to the USPS to cash it.
Just providing this info to prevent others from potentially getting scammed. Fortunately I did not ship the snake before confirming the MO was real or fake.
The scammers name on the MO was Rob Rew from Louisiana. On the phone he said his name was Chris Mink. He used a few different phone numbers, so watch for any of these numbers....

Re: Sellers BEWARE!!
I have seen this scam in the dog and horse world as well. It's a shame there are people pulling this. I'm sure they have taken quite a few folks

USPS provides info on detecting fake money orders: https://www.usps.com/shop/accepting-money-orders.htm
You can also call the USPS money order verification system at 866-459-7822 if you think you've been sent a fake.
I've seen reports that scammers are also using them for firearm accessories and optics, ammo, etc.

Thanks for the heads up! You definitely have to be on your guard.

I had a good friend get scammed like this a few years ago when she was advertising a room for rent, she got a call from some woman claiming to be from England who was relocating to the US. The woman wanted to pay with a USPS money order with the 'balance' of the money order deposited in her US bank account. My friend cashed the money order and deposited the rest into the bank like she was asked to, it ended up costing my friend several thousand dollars.

Have you notified KingSnake so they can pull his info and account??

The guy is persistent.....
He called again today from a new number. I told him he was busted on the money order and it was being processed by the USPS for prints and he hung up immediately.
I have pulled his IP address from my website. I will attempt to contact KS with all this info to see if they can delete his account.
The newest number he has used is:
347-913-6586

LOL should have told him you didn't get it, and if he wants the snake he needs to overnight you another one because another buyer is coming by tomorrow night with cash. Make him waste time and spend money...

There is a program you can load on your cell and make it show any number you want. His cell is irrelevant. His IP however is more important. Provide that to the USPS and they can track his address to his IP.

Re: Sellers BEWARE!!
Every phone number has a different voice greeting on the voicemail. They are probably disposable, pre-paid phones.
KS has been informed, but not replied back to me yet. USPS does not want/need any more info than they already have.

Well hope this gets resolved. I am glad you didnt ship right away... wonder how many free snakes he has received.

Wow, crazy how hard folks will work, to not have to work...
