Amazing clutch...hit the jackpot...RED EYED LEUCISTIC! Pairing was pastel lesser 100% DH albino pied (both male and female). Got 1 pastel pied poss het albino, 1 pastel lesser poss DH albino pied, 1 lesser pied, 1 pastel lesser pied, 1 pastel albino poss het pied, AND 1 lesser albino pied poss pastel!!! Re: WORLDS FIRST - Lesser Albino Pied (poss pastel)
Were both pastel lessers? Or only one pastel lesser but both DH albino/pied?
-
Gorgeous while slightly demonic looking.. Love it
-
Thanks everyone...and yes both sire and dam were pastel lesser DH's.
-
Wow that's so cool congrats.
-
Ok so question Pastel lesser dh albino pied x Pastel lesser dh albino pied.. How do you know that's got pied in it and not just an albino BEL ?
-
Good question...blue eyed leucy's seem to have a different head/face scalation and somewhat larger eyes. This has normal scalation but slightly smaller eyes associated with lesser pieds.

Very nice clutch indeed. :gj:

the difference between BEL and pied can also be seen in the quality of the white.
i think BPs have a "white" pigment, or at least some pigment to make the skin more reflective and less transparent, so while lavender hues and pink hues come from absence of pigment + transparency, white comes from something like absence of transparency + reflectivity / dispersion.
but there is an elephant in the room
the snake only appears to have one eye. and the head is really wide. one eye is, i dont know, just flat, and the other one does not stand out like it would in a normal. also the shape of the head is weird and off.
i have to say its quite a freak. better resolution pics and more pics would help, but something is not right here. maybe you hit albino pied super lesser, and also hit the issues that can sometimes come with super lesser.
-
I've produced a handful of lesser pieds and they've all had the small eyes just like the OP's albino lesser pied. Here is a pretty good picture showing the eyes of a lesser pied...

Unfortunately the pics are kind of crappy, but the eyes are "normal" aside from being slightly small. For now I have no way of knowing what a super lesser pied looks like so it is a possibility I suppose. Like Mr. Green, I have hatched out many lesser and pastel lesser pieds so I know one when I see one. In my experience, the pastel lesser pieds I have produced have not had the "small-eye issue" so I dont think there is any pastel in this REL, but only time will tell. Thanks!

That's what I thought. Only asking because curious, as someone else mentioned, how you could tell whether it was actually a pied and not an albino BEL. Either way you have one heck of an animal! :gj:

Wow that's one awesome clutch! Congrats!

Congrats! Not that fond of the look, personally (don't really like red eyes), but a breeding powerhouse regardless of which exact combination of genes it carries.
For my tastes, I think either the pastel pied or the pastel lesser are the "pick of the clutch". Love low white pieds, and does that lesser have a ringer?
-
i like red eyes, when they move around and look at me and stuff.
i dont know, genetically its an archievement. i know about the eye issues in super butters / super lessers, but i did not know that lesser pieds are also affected.
all the people i know that have slightly smaller eyes a bit deeper in the skull need glasses, contact lenses, or laser surgery. thats just geometry, if the shape is off by more than the lens can correct, the result is a blur.
i guess its just not for me. i looked up more pictures of lesser pieds, many of them also show the slightly abnormal head shape. but then, im being a total hypocrite because i am a fan of scaleless, and they lack heat pits and belly scales, which arguably screws up their ability to perform as a predator in the wild even more than a paintjob and bad eyes. i guess it comes down to aesthetics.

So... I was showing my husband...and he wanted to know what the snakes spell. We couldn't quite figure it out... but it sure does look like someone is trying to send a subliminal message!
Pied... upside-down Q... or ???

(sorry, i could not resist)

Yes..that pastel lesser has a large ringer. I am going to go as far as saying he is 100% DH as well because he looks EXACTLY like his mother. Here is the thread from when I produced the parents of this clutch:

The pastel lesser is a male, pastel albino is a female, pastel pied is a male, pastel lesser pied is a male, and lesser pied is female. All are available and will be ready to ship once they shed and start eating of course. So feel free to PM me if interested in anything.
