White dots on dorsal line, what are these?
Hi, im curious about my recently hatched ball pythons, most balls from this clutch were born with these white scales on their dorsal lines, wanted to check if any of you have seen this before, and to tell me if it is normal, its the first time it happens to me, and i havent seen this in any of my previous clutches, thx and good luck. BTW, this clutch was (lesser x pastel), the result: 1 normal, 3 pastels, and 3 lesser pastels.

I've never seen that before. Pretty interesting. Assuming no one else has seen this before, Seeing as most of the offspring have it and im assuming the parents do not, my guess would be a incubation fluke. I would still hold on to all the babies and see if there is a trait to refine regardless, Could turn into something awesome if that is the case. Keep us posted.

I have a pewter that has white scales here and there, none of his offspring have them, so i'm not sure if it is genetic.

Sure, i will keep posting, some friends also thought it could be because of the incubation process, but none of the snakes from the other clutch i hatched in the same incubator have the white dots, so im really uncertain about this, and also excited, thx for replying and if you have more opinions, im glad to hear them.

I've seen this happen to a couple people before. Usually goes away after a shed or 2

lets see how it develops, its definitively interesting, and ive never seen it before.
the easiest and most obvious thing to do if it might be genetic would be to repeat exactly the same pairing next season. no matter what it is and how exactly the genetics work, if you repeat the same pairing, you should get more, unless it really was an incubation issue or some other random fluke.

My Mojave has a few sets of random white spots on himself aswell, something like paradox i assume?

One of the babies that we just hatched out had it. It went away after it shed.
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy snakes and that's pretty close

Would be pretty cool if they stayed like that. Looks like you out drops of white out all along their backs

Re: White dots on dorsal line, what are these?
Thanks for your comments, I also thought it could be related to the paradox, but im not sure since the white scales are only on the dorsal line, i will keep posting the development of the snakes, hopefully it is genetic, so far, from the other clutches i hatched in the same incubator, none of the snakes have the dots, lets see what will happen. :D

That is so cool! :D it looks like someone painted little dots on them. Hopefully when the shed I won't go away that's adorable.

Re: White dots on dorsal line, what are these?
I have one normal hatchling with white dots as well. He just came out yesterday and was wondering the same thing! Cinnamon x dinker was the pairing. At first I thought it was from the vermilite or pieces from my white tubs or anything I can think of white. So when I was washing him off it wouldn't come off!

They will go away after the first or second shed. I had a clutch with them. I think it is calcium related.

Happens quite often...Not real sure why...Goes away after a shed or two...
