    BRB Dropped 26 Little Nippers!
Pics are still uploading to photobucket, just had to share the good news.

She had 26 live, 1 stillborn, and 5 slugs. I saw the first few when I did my pre-bed snake check last night just after midnight... so I didn't go to sleep until 0400.

Mom and 24 of the babies are doing great, but two didn't absorb all of their yolks so they'll be getting some extra TLC over the next few weeks.

    Congrats!

I'm still waiting for my first litters of the year, hopefully soon for my first one though.

I don't know if you've had babies come out still with a long of yolk attached, I've never had problems with them not still being okay, I just set them up on damp paper towels and let them be, usually within a couple of days they've detached from it and are healing up.

These are my first two and that's exactly how they are set up. Fingers crossed all will be well with them.

If there is nothing else going on in them then I doubt you'll have any trouble, they just need a little more time. :)

Hope you're ready for all the little mouths to feed! Good thing is they're typically wonderful feeders so you don't have to worry about having to work with them all to get them going!

What do you plan to start feeding them with? I am hoping to have brb babies this year. My first time so I am not exactly sure what size they can be started with. Rat pinks or mice pink or mice fuzzy?

Most of the time they will readily take either.

Mice fuzzies for all but the two that didn't absorb the yolk, I'll start them on pinks since they're a good bit smaller than their siblings. After they grow a bit and then take a few mouse hopper feedings I like to switch to rat fuzzies.

How come you don't start them off on rats? Is it easier for them to take mice?

Partially availability, and partially because a mouse fuzzy/hopper is older and moves around more than a rat pink/fuzzy so it can elicit a better food response in the babies. Usually that's more of an issue with getting BP's to eat than a BRB though, the boas tend to be garbage guts.

Wow, what a beautiful family. You must be so proud! I saw your picture and immediately thought, I have to breed a pair of those one day. Very stunning! I hope they continue to do well!
