    Humidity
What is a safe humidity for a ball python to be at at all times in a rack like the highest and lowest they can safely live in not including shedding?

Have you checked out a Caresheet?
    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...s%29-Caresheet

    To answer your question:
    • 50%-60% normally
    • Raised to 60%-70% during a shed cycle

    Hope this helps!

Can you describe how you keep your tubs? How long they've been set up, how often you mist (if at all), substrate, water dishes, etc...

Also, what methods have you used to try to lower humidity?

Is the water dish by any chance sitting on the hot spot?

    Re: Humidity
Are you certain that your humidity reading is accurate? Depending on the style, they can be wildly off.

If it can be trusted, it may be time to slowly start soldering holes into your tubs to increase airflow (assuming the ambient humidity of the room is lower than 75%).

    Re: Humidity
Yes the room is only at 65 % using the same gauge and its a digital one there is about 10 holes on both sides of the tubs

    Re: Humidity
How's the air movement in the room? An oscillating fan to increase airflow between the room and the tubs would likely do them some good.

Also, where do you live that you have an ambient relative humidity of 65%? Above 60% starts feeling uncomfortable (IMO) and improves conditions for mold growth.

I live in NY but I have the room heated and a big tub of water in there

    Re: Humidity
Is removing the "big tub of water" from the room an option? It sounds like lowering the humidity of the room would go a long ways towards lowering the humidity of the tubs.

    Re: Humidity
I removed the tub of water over an hour and a half ago and it only dropped to 58 in room no drop in tubs tho

    Re: Humidity
Increase the temp in the room and that will lower the humidity further. I'd also give it 24hrs between taking readings.

This. Since it dropped 7% in that short amount of time, let us know what it falls to later on tonight. The decrease in the room should lead to a decrease in your tubs too. You're on the right track.

    Re: Humidity
Ok this is getting really frustrating I removed the tub of water from the room and even drilled ten more holes on both sides of tubs now the humidity has jumped up to 85 % I changed the substrate thinking it may me moist and it is still at 85% I dont know what else to do other than go back to tanks and not have any humidity and spray them everyday I'm getting upset with this I would have never built this rack if I knew this would happen I just don't want my snakes to get sick!!!!!

You changed your newspaper substrate not knowing if it were moist or not? Couldn't you tell from feeling or looking at it?

Ima take a guess and say your humidty reader is wrong, Unless your living in the tropics. I have mine on paper, and i never get above 60% unless i mist them... Thought mines a open air ARS rack regardless how moist is your room, That sounds like your sleeping on dampness all the time thats crazy...

Regardless IF your room is 60/75% and ur snakes are in 75-80% humidity on the worst, That will be fine, There are graphs on the site, that show humidty reachings highs of 90's were bps lives! The only time Super high humidty hurts is when your ambient are too cold.

Aslong as your Substrate/Paper isnt always wet/damp they will be fine.
