Craigslist Mystery Morph - Pastel and ?
Hey dudes! Long-time lurker of this forum (like, years). I finally moved to a country where snakes aren't illegal, and got a ball off craigslist :-) I checked her carefully for mites and scale rot etc, and the previous owner was kind enough to feed her live for me, and she downed 1 adult and 2 hoppers. Stoked!
Anyways, he said he has no idea what morph she is. He paid $350 for her (in Canada), and knows she is at least pastel and says there is one other gene. I got her for $50 so I am happy with that, but I'm curious what the other gene might be if that's true. Someone on instagram suggested enchi, but I'm not familiar enough with enchis to identify. Can anyone tell from these photos? She does also have very nice blushing on her head, but she might just be a very pretty pastel.
Sorry the photos aren't great, I didn't think to take better stretched out ones and don't want to bother her again til she's settled in. I'll get some more after that.

Re: Craigslist Mystery Morph - Pastel and ?
I don't see pastel at all really - it looks more like a desert to me?
If it is you might want to read up on their fertility issues.

Agree ^^^ She looks more Desert than Pastel. Definitely not seeing any Enchi.

Re: Craigslist Mystery Morph - Pastel and ?
I don't see enchi either. Nor pastel, I'm not seeing the brown out line. Whatever she is, she's pretty! :-)

I can see the pastel, but looks deff Desert. I'd go desert pastel. But desert is a lot more dominant than the pastel is.
-
My vote is also for desert with no pastel

This.
Also, based on her price and source, I'd bet the seller knew exactly what morph she is. She's a very pretty pet, don't ever breed her.

Huh! I totally forgot about the desert morph. Cool. I mean, I guess kinda not cool since she can't breed, but she is gorgeous for $50. She does look a lot yellower than in those photos but I'm looking at desert now on google images and I see it.

female deserts make great pets because you can get them so inexpensively and they look stunning for just a single-gene morph.
but unfortunately breeding is out of the question.

I don't know you guys. If you look at the last two pictures full size, I think I can see a faint brown out line. I mean, for the price it probably is a desert, but still....
Do you know how old she is? That is another thing that would help. Even the best pastels get more brown with age. If she's more than 8 months old, I'll bet desert. If she is younger, there is a chance she might be a high yellow pastel.
Even if you cannot breed her, she is a dynamite looking snake. Personally, I'd never get tired of her just because she is so pretty.

The dude said she was about 4 months old, but he didn't really seem to know anything so *shrug* I just fed her (1 adult and 2 hoppers easy, if that helps any) but when she's had some days to digest I will weigh her. Here are some more photos that show scale and colour better:

and yes she is gorgeous :D

Re: Craigslist Mystery Morph - Pastel and ?
My desert enchi is a little over a year old he was probablly about 4-5 months old when i got him. To me theres no doubt that thats a desert. Mine has not browned out at all and has probably gotten brighter.he eats 1 big adult mouse every week and hes probably more then doubled in size since i got him last august

Looks like a Desert... females can't be bred.

I think you have a desert on your hands bro, pastels have a gradient to their yellow, like a brownish tint, if it's desert female I won't risk breeding it, might also explain the price you got it for...

Yep, definitely looks that way! I'll sex her to be sure she's female (just took the dude's word for it) but I'm still super stoked to have gotten her for less than a normal. :gj: Hooked my boyfriend on getting one as well hahaha. Thanks!

Nice Desert but what a scumball for selling you a female Desert without any warning about known issues. And I'm sure as H*** that he knew exactly what he was selling.
