What size should I feed my ball?
He's about 3-4 ft, I don't know how many grams (pics bellow). He is a good size, well fed, and the guy before me fed him small/medium mice every two weeks, but I think he looks like he could take at least large mice or small rats. https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...92562315_n.jpghttps://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...19301121_n.jpghttps://scontent-a-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/...37673500_n.jpg

At that size, he could easily take small-medium rats without a problem. I don't go by weight so much as looking at the snake and even my adult breeders are on small rats since the size can vary when ordering f/t in bulk. As long as it's not larger than he is around, you shouldn't have any issues.

Re: What size should I feed my ball?
Firstly you need to check his weight, then I can check on my feeding table. Second you need to get him onto a 5-7 feeding cycle. Then he will grow nicely.

Definitely feed him small rats. 1 every week would be perfect for him. :)

If he is a male, id cut the line at small rats every 7-10 days! keeps em from getting fat and lazy!

Re: What size should I feed my ball?
Thanks all! I plan on feeding frozen, but the people before had him on live mice, so I'm going to start with a live rat and see how he takes it. From then I'll try to convert to frozen and start him on a regular schedule.

Just make sure you supervise him with the rat, and have a pencil or pen nearby to stick in the rat's mouth, in case it tries to bite him while constricting. And it probably wouldn't hurt to try a frozen/thawed rat first, if you wanted to. You never know, he may take it right away.

If he was on live mice, get a live rat pup, closer to same size he is used to. Or you could luck out and he just want to eat regardless of frozen/thawed, live or fresh killed. Never know until you try

Re: What size should I feed my ball?
I'd rather start with frozen and just try that, but that means a 30 minute drive, whereas there is a local pet store down the street that sells *only* live that's like 5 minutes away. I wouldn't have an issue driving the 30 minutes but it's my parents who have to drive, so I'm trying to make it easier on them :)

Btw, I said he was well-fed, but on closer inspection he seems underweight. His skin is really loose and his sides are a bit sunken in. He's not, like, starving, but he's thinner than I feel comfortable with, so I'll be happy when I can get him eating.

Re: What size should I feed my ball?
Well if he was on live, and with what you've said i would recommend getting 1 of each. Simple because saggy skin is shown for weight loss from his initial size, So you dont wanna play the patience wait game to long with him to get on F/T. The switch honestly isnt Hard at all, its the snake, i was able to get my lavender spider baby from live mice. to FT rats in 2 feeds... first week frozen mouse, took it.. second week Live rat pup took it, 3rd week frozen rat pup, now its eating every week, (1 with denial and i was out of rat pups so offered a small weaning and she must have been scared and defensively struck it) So because of the stress from move, keep his feeding the same for the next feeds Once on track and has a good eating habbit (3+ consecutive feeds) I then would make the switch to F/T. Or even go from Live 3 feedings to Pre killed 2-3 feedings (simple DiY gas chambers to euthanize rat harmlessly) and with 3 consecutive feeds then feed him F/T... Owning a bp is one thing. Patience!!!! As well as not freaking out or being a worry bug if he skips 1-2 meals!

Also looking at that "home" not that its bad, but please please please get him a hide box. Reptile basics black hides are amazing! and that will 100% help him eat
