Nice hide -- did you make that yourself with polymer clay?
-
yes your idea i used half a coconut as the mold it worked good i used it for my bps but i don't think she likes it becuase she never uses it.
-
I liked the hide too. At first it looked like half a golf ball, lol. And, I can't believe I'm saying this about a tarantula, but she's cute. I must be going nuts. I have a big fear of arachnids, but just recently I've been opening my mind up to them. I guess it's since I got my ball python, I've realised that spiders can't be too bad. I mean, there are people deathly afraid of snakes, but most are harmless, and I love them. So maybe I'm wrong about arachnids. I've actually been bugging my Mom to get a tarantula. She joked around saying when I get my snake, she's getting a tarantula, since my fear is spiders, and her fear is snakes. But then she backed out on the threat, lol. I wouldn't mind her having one. I want to get over my fear I guess.

Well, I'm glad it's working out with the spidey anyway. Coconut was a good idea for the mold to get the shape right. I wonder why your snake doesn't like it? You did let it air out thoroughly, right?
-
sorry i meant my spider doesn't like it. My snakes loved it sage just got to big it was like popping pieces of chocolate out of there molds she would cram herself in there so I got them bigger hides.
-
Oops. :) My bad. I don't know how inclined tarantulas are to use hides in general (as opposed to burrows or something), but if it worked with the snakes then at least that's consistent with my results.
-
i use a coconut hide and toilet paper and paper towel tubes cut in half and my rose hair uses them all the time. she will use one consistently for several months and get it full of webs and then move on to a different one. i take the old one out and replace it and she just keeps rotating around every few months. i do push the tubes down into the substrate though and she will burrow down further from there sometimes.
-
does she utilize her hide?
-
yeah she uses her hide now i guess she just needed to figure it out i made the door a little bigger on my coconut hide and she will go in and out so far she has been very interesting and i suggest getting one of your own especially if you own snakes she eats like a machine the crickets don't last more then a night.
