Re: Pied ale
Btw how do they keep the marks?
-
I love that little "x" marking.
But what do you mean how do they keep their marks?
-
Re: Pied ale
If x will stay through life cycle
-
Thar be a treasure about.

Re: Pied ale
It's kind of like a friend of mine who has a birth mark in his hair. He has jet black hair and one spot on the side that is about the size of a golf ball that is snow white. He can cut it out and it grows right back. Snakes tend to keep their markings, it may get brighter or fade with age, but the x will more than likely remain. I have not noticed any of mine that their markings really change.

Re: Pied ale
I did :) It's mine now :P I hope it's all the best.
Out of the blue, how long should he be quarantined?
-
I'd say probably about 3 months, but some people will quarantine for a whole year.

Re: Pied ale
Pieds a pied IMO marking up value cz white is odd but I guess the market allows it

Piebalds are likely my favourite morph, but usually I like a little more normal colour on them. I am glad you went for it, though, after realising the X mark was in fact a part of the snake's pattern. I absolutely love that, but at first thought it was a mark on the container. Maybe you can prove it genetic and make babies eventually with lots of little X's!

IMO even though there are alot of people out there who love the low white pieds i think its just a matter of the majority of people like the mid-high pieds therfore the demand on them is higher so price is higher. Again this is just my opinion on why mid-highs always end up higher priced.

High whites are more popular, hence the premium. But it's usually not that big of a bump from what I've seen. Just like Calico/Sugars...high whites = a few extra bucks...

I didn't figure it was, but I need to thank you for making me look those up because I saw some bloody awesome snakes. Aside from the ball that looked like a dalmatian, an axanthic piebald, a reticulated piebald whose back was solid and sides & underside white, and a "mystic potion" (which looks and sounds very expensive) all popped up. I wanted to share the pictures, but didn't want to blow up the thread with off-topic shots. Axanthics are another favourite of mine because they just look so unnatural.
On the topic of quarantine, why wait so long? I mean specifically, are there certain parasites or infections which can take that length of time to manifest? If you're doing quarantine in a sterile environment (meaning like a tub) and then later on moving the snake to a terrarrium, will the frequent alterations in scenery and environment have any possible effect on the snake? I hope the thread's author is also interested in these questions, else I should've started my own.

Yeah I couldn't refuse the offer and let's say reasonable price ;) He's such a sweetie a bit shy and afraid of everything. It was an impulsive buy so he had to wait for his living quarters to be prepared. But now he's settled and sleeping in his warm hide ;) He's a March 2013 hatch and currently weights 165g, didn't measure him but i would say around 1.5 feet (45cm)
He was the show attraction, and that X is somewhat a nickname I go by in climbing community so yeah I just had to have him :P
Let's hope now he's healthy and will eat and grow.
P.S. will provide better pictures once he's settled, fed regularly and ready to be handled.
