    Prevent-A-Mite vs. Equate Bedding Spray
I have read that the Wal-Mart brand, Equate Bedding Spray has the same chemicals as Prevent-A-Mite. Has anyone else used this?
No ones fault but mine that I don't have any PAM on hand right now. I am not sure if my snake has mites. My wife was sitting in the living room right beside the snakes enclosure and noticed a very small speck on the screen of her phone. She called me to look at it and you know my worst thought first.....It's A MITE!!! I can't be sure. I just want to be prepared in case I do find out. I will order some PAM, but would like to have something on hand in the meantime.

I'll have coleslaw come by, and say what she told me to use. I think it's Rite bed bug spray.

It's cheaper and has a lower concentration of the chemical in Pam so it's actually safer.

Haha true story.....some people knock pam for using chemicals around their animals. But the stuff works and fast, its saved me a couple times. A little bit of chemicals is far better for your animals then a mite infestation!

The rite is good idea because you can you use it in a preventative fashion without worrying about it being too much. It's also available at Walmart.

Well, some good news. I see nothing with my snake to signal mites. I changed the water last night so I could keep a close look in there for mites and I saw nothing this afternoon. She just ate, so that's another good sign. I think I just went into a panic over nothing. Now I am ok until the PAM arrives!!!
Lesson learned!! Keep a can handy!!!

I've used the equate bedding spray with great success. Where the once I've ever used PAM, Amanda it did not seem to work at all. I think people are just more partial to PAM because it was made with the expectations to be used around reptiles, while the bedding spray was made for bed bugs.

Im partial to PAM because it knocked out mite infestations of my collections fast twice.

I know people who swear by it, yea. My personal first and only experience with it years back was I used it as it should have been and the infestation appeared to double and I ended up losing one snake. Since then, again many years ago, I've used the straight bed spray and that always seems to knock out infestations in about 3 days or so. So that is my personal preference now.
