I bought this boy at the York show yesterday
What is this morph I know what I bought him as but every one else at the show agrees he is not what I bought him as

Re: What is this morph
Better lighting would help, but from those it looks like a super pastel. What did you buy him as? There are only a couple options such as firefly, but that doesn't quite fit him.
-
Pastel, maybe a yellow belly pastel but not seeing much more than that.
-
Pastel...seeing a little of what looks like Enchi but could just be the pics...
-
Re: What is this morph
Pastel. And maybe yellow belly. But I'm not great with yb. Do you have belly shots?
-
Re: What is this morph
I'm changing my saying, what threw me off was the faded head, I'm thinking pastel+ as well now that I look more carefully.
-
Re: What is this morph
Definitely pastel, head doesn't scream super. More pics would help poss yb

It is a pastel 100% but it is either a really nice one or something else.

Re: What is this morph
The guy seemed uneducated and clueless he didn't no the sire nor dam nor the other possible genetics of the animal so I bought it to prove him with a few normals.

I would put him with a Cinnamon...a 1700+ gram proven breeder Cinnamon...I know where you can get one cheap...:D

Re: What is this morph
The yellow is pretty bright and with the extra bit of head fade, I wonder if it may be Pastel Vanilla? Otherwise it is just a really nice Pastel. For $50, if you wanted to add Pastel to your collection, I think its worth pickin up. Good luck and hopefully there is a bonus floating around in there.

lol ^^
i looked at this after only one response was there, kylearmbar saying he sees super pastel. and i looked at it and the first thing that went into my mind was "pastel". but the way you worded the original post, i was assuming that its got to be one more gene and im just not seeing it. i didnt see firefly or enchi pastel or pastave, and i assumed there is no yellowbelly simply because you didnt include belly shots.
now its quite clear to me: nice pastel, a good one. if there is anything else in there, then it has to be a subtle morph.

what are you going to gain when you breed a male that is most likely just a nice pastel to a bunch of normal females? what if you get 50% pastels and 50% normals? thats maybe around 30 dollars per egg if you sell the hatchlings, not considering any costs like feeding all the hatchlings, hatchling rack, and so on.
worst case scenario is that you have a proven pastel male, and you have had a bunch of females produce eggs while being bred to just a single gene pastel instead of... i dont know... something with 3 or 4 genes in it or a banana or something, and you have a bunch of normal hatchlings and pastel hatchlings for sale.
i mean, sure, you can do it, im sure the hatchlings will look cute and be healthy and you will get them sold when the price is low enough, but you can do better. when you have a few normal females ready to breed, at least use a triple gene male or something.

This is very true I figured a normal female because it would be the simplest way to prove out what else is at play if anything. The money isnt what I'm after in this scenario I just want to know what's causing this superb pastel . I can take a loss on a clutch for one year to hopefully prove something different is in there .

maybe people finally produce more high quality pastel, and better lines like citrus pastel, lemon pastel or blonde pastel are getting mixed in all the time?
it being a superb pastel doesnt change that there most likely isnt another gene involved, if you manage to produce more like these you will be the one selling them for 50 dollars, contributing to the nice-pastels-for-50-bucks segment of the market.
most likely whats causing this is really simple: breed a superb pastel, hatch a superb pastel. what else do you expect to find out?

The fact he was sold for 50$ the breeder said it was a friends clutch and he said he is selling it for 50 because he doesn't know what else is in it if anything. He said its a pastel + ..

Re: What is this morph
Ultimately if nothing is in it I take the loss on one female for one breeding season worst case scenario I have some really nice pastels to donate to USARK it isn't a huge profit for them but people knowing proceeds are going to them will pay more. Its really not a big deal for me to know but its my curiosity that makes me want to know. Like I said before if I get 6 eggs and 3 pastels I will be happy if nothing else is there and all 3 pastels will be sold for proceeds to USARK they need the money more then any of us. Without their constant fight we wouldn't own these beautiful creatures

There is a BP.net member with a plain jane pastel that looks better than some supers I've seen for sale (Meowkittykazoo?.... maybe, I forget who for sure). Possibly the result of selective breeding with the inclusion of a fairly common gene turning out stellar results. Or there may be one of the subtle "cleaner genes" present. Either way if you want to work with the pastel gene I'd say you managed to snag a pretty good example and can't beat the price.

Marissa at mkmorphs has the best pastel I've ever seen.

it looks like it almost could be a super, but i see it as a very very good pastel and not as a super pastel.
