Pre-killing feeders (Where to buy CO2?)
    Hi everyone,
I will be breeding my own rats and mice and was curious if anyone knew where to get CO2 tanks filled and where I could buy a euthanization chamber (the CO2 being the priority since I can make a chamber myself).

I don't think I can feed live. I have this strong urge to save the mouse/rat while it's being wrangled and I just feel horrible condemning the mouse/rat to such a slow death. And I'm not confident enough to whack them either, plus I doubt my neighbors would appreciate the thumping noises!

All the local places that sell beer making supplies refill co2 tanks here. I've filled my tanks at a local store that sells paintball equipment too. the best prices around here though is a place that recharges and sells fire extinguishers and a soda bottling place. most any place that uses co2 in the products they sell will refill tanks. if you can't find a place call a local beer distributer I'm sure they will know a local place where people get their co2 for beer kegs they sell.

Walmart sells CO2 canisters for paintball. And most grocery stores sell dry ice.

Lol.. I'm just imagining your neighbors looking in your home's direction with a confused look on their face saying "what the hell is going on over there?".. Ha Ha..

I got mine from a welding supply store. The setup was expensive but a canister lasts forever and when you do need it replaced you just bring it in to exchange the whole canister.

Paintball shops normally fill the tanks for pretty cheap http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/14/4unyvypa.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/14/e6a6u2aj.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/14/ve5edese.jpg Heres some pics of my set up the on/off valve for the tank was purchased for about 20$ online the tub is sealed all the way around with the exception house to water allowing oxygen to get out but not in this set up had worked great for me for the past four months

I refill my tanks at D!ck's Sporting Goods. It costs $4 per tank to fill them (20oz tanks).

(EDIT: to get around the censor for the sporting goods store name)

Has anyone experienced any trouble using mice that were euthanized using the CO2 meant for paintball stuff? I was reading about different grades of CO2 and apparently the paintball ones are lower grade?

    Thanks for all the replies!

I use it and have never had any issues mice or rats my snakes all take f/t now I like to think it's because I used prekilled (paintball c02) as a middle step to the f/t

I made my own using two jars, a long connecting straw thing and baking soda and vinegar to make the co2 reaction. Works like a charm.
