Re: My new girl
7 months old... I change my jungle × ij carpet girl for this beauty, reason is that the carpet can't get Necessary papers, btw this girl was my first option anyway...

Hi,
What do you mean by necessary papers? Is there a legal requirement there that needs to be met?
I'm also curious to hear what you think about the boa vs the carpet. Similarities, differences, pros/cons. I really enjoy my boa and would like another or possibly a jungle carpet. Seeing as you have had both I'd like to get your take.
Nice looking snake you have too. Congrats!!

Re: My new girl
My ex carpet was jungle × ij mix, female, for her breeder did not do at the time a microchip so that I could not keep her, this is required in our country, my plan is to buy clear morelia spillota cheney, baby and put in her a microchip on time... I just need to wait two months for that. Than, my collection is definitely complete !!! - 1.Boa Constrictor
2. Ball python pied
3.Jungle Carpet python
4. Nelson's milk albino

Re: My new girl
Gio... My opinion is... Both species are totaly different, i love both species too much, carpets have a funtastic color and temper, jungles especially, and boas... They are simpley the best !!! For me... My favourite snake is boa ...

She looks fine. She's pretty big for only 7 months, but overall condition is far more important than size. Some snakes just grow faster than others. She appears to have nice condition - she is square and lean enough. I would have her on a 10 day feeding schedule and make sure the prey doesn't leave a noticeable lump. I would also put her on mice instead of rats - the lower fat content of mice will be more beneficial to her right now. You want to encourage the RIGHT KIND of growth. She should do well for you! :gj:

Thank You very much Evenstar, i have notice that You are an expert :-) , breeder was feeding with rats from the begining... You think i need to put her on mice?

Mice will provide more bone (therefore more calcium) and less fat. She is pretty big and I would not want to see her any thicker. Personally, I like mice for young boas. But if she's eaten rats all her life, you could stick with rats - I would maybe take them down a size and make sure not to feed too often!! Every 10 days is often enough - even every 12-14 days would be fine.

Your English is beautiful just like your snake. No need to apologize for having a second language that isn't as easy as your native language.
I wouldn't survive a second if you put me on a snake board based out of Serbia LOL!
Another feeding option for your boa is quail. I've been using it to get away from some of the fat associated with rats. My male will be 2 years old by the end of June and is about 4 feet 8 or 9 inches. In my opinion he's pretty large and even slowing his growth by feeding less just isn't working. I usually feed every 10-12 days and at certain times it will reach 15-20 if there is a shed involved.
Evenstar has really good feeding advice, and I would suggest finding a copy of THE COMPLETE BOA CONSTRICTOR by Vincent Russo. That book has great info and you will see how seasonal changes, temp drops, increased and decreased light phases all have a role in growth.
Keep the photos and questions coming.
