Where do you keep your herps? (poll)
Hello guys,
As my snake collection grows (I'm up to 5 in less than a year) and as we start the process of looking to buy a house (moving from an apartment). I was curious about where everyone keeps their snakes (i.e. what location in or outside your house). I hope I gave enough options in the poll and mods, feel free to move this if I put it in the wrong place.
-
My three are kept in two T8's in my bedroom currently d/t space. I'm moving soon and plan to put them in the room offset from the living room.
-
I sleep with my snakes :D
-
I listed "Other" Currently they are in my office, however as my lizard collection grows and the large cages that are required to keep them, racking systems are not an option. I am currently converting my garage into a reptile room/man cave. I have installed insulated garage doors, threshold seals as well as new door seals all the way around to prevent critters, bugs, water and wind from getting in. I plummed a heat/AC vent into the wall so I can control temps. Installed a deep sink in the laundry room (in garage) I am installing rubber flooring so my lizards can free roam (supervised).

Everywhere in my house at the moment. But we have a lot more species here then most folks on bp.net. They all have their own specific temp, humidity, lighting, and breeding needs.

Currently in their own room, in the house. Looking to move them into their own building by the summer time!!

My room. Currently have an apartment with roommates. I have two stacked T8's in the living room because my room is way too tiny. In my room I have rat rack, snake rack, and extra tubs with snakes. Hoping for a house and reptile room this year
-
2 Locations, bonus room above the garage entirely dedicated to snakes, and some in the office as well.

I live in a basement apartment, which consists of a bedroom attached to a large living room and the snakes are spread out in the living area, though I'm planning on turning one of the two closets in the bedroom area into a quarantine space now that I've decided to actively expand my collection. Add all the reptiles to the fact that my collection of animal skulls is in the living room also, and I have my own security system called "The Creep Factor" ;D
(Seriously, the little kid next door calls me "the witch lady")
-
Bathroom...
j/k...have a spare bedroom dedicated to the snakes...
-
I have my snakes in the living room and the dining room. The bloods' cages are on the entertainment center, since it was large enough to hold 4' X 2' cages. The rack with the majority of the snakes is in the dining room. My mother (who is terrified of snakes) has told me she will never eat a dinner in my house.
-
Spare bedroom for the established guys, one in my bedroom as a "display" snake (planning on moving the 4'+ cages into my bedroom possibly), and quarantine in the living room.
-
My established guys are kept in a spare "bedroom" off of our finished basement. When I was raising litters of GSDs, it was my puppy room. We finished it with pergo flooring and stone baseboards (instead of wood) and it has now become the snake room. I have a q/t rack in our living room and our GTPs are in display enclosures in our finished basement (which is our "rec room" and is the room we spend the most time in). :gj:
-
Right now they are just in my bedroom (the master bedroom). I have an unfinished basement that I hop to build a snake room in. I have thought about converting my walk-in closet, but I'm not sure where my clothes would go...
I have 3 kids so all 4 rooms in our house are in use, or I would use one of them.

All mine are in my bedroom but since I don't have that many it's not hard to fit them all in there.

Very neat information guys... I guess I should've made more poll options and allowed everyone to choose more than one option (you guys have snakes spread all over your houses!).
Mine are in a guest bedroom in our apartment right now. I would love to have a display cage in our living room, but my all-to-curious cat prevents that at the moment (at least until we get a real pvc cage he can't bust into).
-
Spare bedroom-I bought a 3 bedroom house with no plans of having kids. The herps have one room, we have one room and my ferret has the last bedroom. Down to one ferret now so honestly not sure what we are going to do with a another "spare" room.

I keep all my snakes in my bedroom. I live in a ~1100sqft apartment but my bedroom is shaped in a rather long rectangle, so there was an 7x12 spot that was only being filled by an upright jewelry box and a mirror. It now has three racks, and there is an incubator in my closet.

Yeah dude I'm, like, totally 80's and I keep my alligators in my bathtub...:P jk
I keep my two balls in my bedroom. (I'm only 17 after all) After we move, since I'll be getting a huge bedroom, I'll have plenty more room for more herps, as well as my own personal bathroom, which, you guessed it, I may be able to use the counter space as a QT. (Mom said no to alligators, unfortunately.)
Since "your own bedroom" was not listed as an option, I picked other.
-
Most of my snakes are in their own way too small spare bedroom. Most of my lizards are in the computer room, and we have a few cages scattered around the house. All the rodent racks are in the basement. Not sure where I'll put everything once I finally get caught up on all the rack/cage building I need to get done.
-
Hah, where don't I keep my snakes! /Begins pulling snakes out of cupboards and out from under the couch.
No but in all seriousness, I don't really have a designated area at the moment. In the past all the critters were stored in my bedroom but due to the disorganization of my feeder coloney's living arrangements, I had to boot my adult rack into the livingroom.

My diy enclosure with our BP in in the living room and the new king is hanging out in his tank in the den.

Thanks for the additional responses! I should have listed all the available rooms in a house as options then options for "multiple locations" as well. Honestly, I'd keep my herps in my bedroom too, if it wasn't for my cat. He recently "discovered" the BP in a quarantine tub on our tv stand (in the bedroom) and has since relentlessly attempted to get to her. I will now be moving her in with the other herps in the spare bedroom (that he is not allowed in). At least we went ~4 weeks without him noticing.

In the smallest bedroom, which I told myself I wouldn't expand out of, but I already broke that rule and have a couple of BRB's in my bedroom, but they require lower temps than the reptile room gets in the summer.
-
I have some in my closet, some in my living room, and my breeder sized girls in my daughter's room (who insists that she needs more).

Re: Where do you keep your herps? (poll)
2 in the living room and 1 in between living room and dining room.
