    Best Rodent Website
I need to get more rats for my BPs and I don't know which website is better for me.

What is the cheapest one with best quality rats/mice?

I am so far gonna chose RodentPro.

I buy all of my rodents from The Big Cheese Rodent Factory. They have amazing prices, great customer service, high quality rodents, and they ship in a very effective and efficient manner. Even after my package was delivered to my door step in the morning on a 75 degree day and I didn't get home until 6pm that evening, the rats were still frozen solid and there was still dry ice left.

^^ Totally agree with the comment above! I love Big Cheese Rodents. I've ordered from Rodent Pro before and their prices are great but the cheap food kinda translates into their quality. Even though their customer service is great sometimes the quality isn't too good. It seems to depend. Some swear by Rodent Pro and others have sworn them off forever. But you can't go wrong with Big Cheese :)

I've never ordered online, but I have heard enough bad things about Rodent Pro that I probably wouldn't buy from there. Someone in a facebook group I'm in recently said they got one rat in their bag with a number tattooed to its tail... was it a lab rat that rodent pro got for cheap? Is the ink safe for ingestion? If they all had a tattoo, that's one thing, but just one? It was pretty sketchy to me. The rat was apparently gross and deformed too.
We joked around and said the number was the expiration date lol.

I've never heard anything bad about Big Cheese or Layne Labs though :)

Big Cheese all the way unless you can get to a reptile show where you can get the rodents from the show without paying shipping. I've ordered twice from Big Cheese Rodents and have always been pleased with the product and packageing (they also have smaller quantities than some of the other sites so if you don't have a lot of snakes you don't have to worry as much about having too many of one size.

I just looked at big cheese, and right now I can get 100 jumbo mice for $75 shipped. That's only about 75 cent per mouse. ;)

Update for anyone curious. I got my order of 150 rats (50 XXL, 50Large, 50 Medium) from RodentPro and they arrived on time. One even arrived early. Only objection was the packaging of the rats themselves was pretty crappy. Not laid out neatly in their freezer bags. Kinda just thrown in however. Not flat and organized. Each bag was like a ball of 2 XXL rats. Not very friendly for stacking neatly in the freezer.

Aside from that it was pretty nice getting about 70lbs of rats for the freezer lol. It is now filled to the hilt, and will be empty again in a few weeks.

My biggest issue with rodent pro was that I got a number of mice that were broken in half. Which means I'm NOT thawing them and I can't feed them. Weirdest thing *ever*.

They were packaged okay otherwise (rats better than mice) and shipping was fine, but losing probably a dozen mice out of my 50 because they were snapped in two was just both bizarre and gross.

Tip: It may work for you...

Dollar cost average (if you own more than 1), it justifies ordering in bulk and not having to feel the shipping sting often.

How many you feed per week x 4 weeks (or how ever many months worth you want to keep) and pull the trigger.

The trays stack really nice too! :)

I bought 225 rats/mice. From the math I did it should last more then 10 weeks.

Man how I wish 225 would last me 10 weeks!!!

60 rats a week here, none smaller than smalls. Most now are Larges, Jumbos, and XXL's.

If my parents knew I was spending this much even if I was all grown up and out of the house they would have a heart attack xD

Is your snakes your job or just a hobby?

ATM just a hobby, but I've been gearing up to at least make it a small business. I've invested about $30k in the last 9 months to a year in breeding stock, caging, equipment, building my rodent populations, rabbit populations, feed and bedding etc. I only have about 350 rats and 15 rabbits right now, but ALL of the rabbits are adult breeders with only 1 buck. I have plans for more of everything too. Just building a little at a time. Just want to keep it fun and have the best of what I can. My rats are all either pet or show quality, my rabbits all vary in breed, containing giant breeds and show breeds, and not all my snakes are cutting edge morphs I have some pretty good ones in there.

Right now it's just all for enjoyment of the hobby :-) just an expensive hobby lol

That is really cool. I don't plan on doing all of this when I'm older but It will definitely be a small hobby breeding snakes :P
