Anyone else having trouble with females not eating?
My females have not eatin since october. I know they can go forever but I want them to start putting on weight for next year and so far nothing. Anyone experienceing the same issue? Is it this long winter? All the other snakes are eating fine but not the adult females.
Re: Anyone else having trouble with females not eating?
My adult female has been off feed since November. I've been told it's perfectly normal and I plan to offer a rat in a week or so (since temps are warming up this week). I've also been checking her weight sporadically to make sure she's doing fine (she is).

yeah it is a pain. I probably should have kept track of weight though because I haven't.

My girl Nala hasn't eaten since December 29. She hasn't lost much weight, either. Ugghh. I'll just keep trying. Glad I'm not alone in this!:(

Yes!!! My female will not even look at food!! I am stressing myself to make sure all of my husbandry is correct. She has not taken anything in almost 2 months and has gone from 1664 grams to 1423 grams!!

I don't think 200 grams in 2 months off food is normal. I have a male that's eaten once in the last five months and he's lost maybe 20 grams at most. You may want to get your girl checked for other problems.
My bigger snakes have been finicky for the last month or so, but I'm thinking between my biggest female hopefully going to lay, the hopeful sire still being in breeding mode, and my general lack of live feeders for them lately that I know why they keep refusing. I'm doing my best to get my rat colony in order to reliably produce and just had 10 babies born yesterday. I've got two more females that should be ready to drop some babies next week as well as my smaller mice colony (I've just got them harem style for now, planning on using the mice for my small snakes until I have a good supply of rats for the big ones). Having to go out and buy live mice every week is getting to put a sizable dent in my paycheck, and that's only for my picky small snakes. 3 mice is nothing compared to the 3 or 4 live rats each week I would need for the bigger ones.
Rant over. Summary: Another 4 or 5 weeks should get all my snakes eating reliably again.
Re: Anyone else having trouble with females not eating?
Well, after looking back at my records I did weigh her 4 days after feeding and she defecated almost 2 weeks after that, so I guess she really didn't loos 200 grams. She does not appear to have lost that much. She is still round and I can't see her spine. She is active at her usual times. She seems really normal. The only difference I can tell is that she just doesn't feel quite as firm as she did. It's been about a week since I weighed her last. With this being said do you think I should be worried? I'm thinking to monitor her weight real close for another week or 2??? I do keep her temps and humidity a little higher right now and also I have been looking for any signs of mites or RI and haven't noticed anything.

Here is a picture I just took of her. I normally feed her f/t medium rats. I am thinking of trying an adult live mouse.http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...119e1d113c.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...331a4a67c7.jpg
