This is just a guess of the price of a Lightning Pied!

    3,500.00 USD = 2,107.23 GBP

    1 GBP = 1.66095 USD

intercontinental shipping is really expensive and requires a lot of paperwork.

so i guess you are limited to breeders that visit reptile shows within the UK with their reptiles, or to breeders located within the UK.

Dunno if they can ship to the UK, but hollowayherps has some lightning pied stuff on kingsnake.com. It's worth a try if you're that interested but they are a pretty penny!!

What is the point in guessing when you are so far off?

thats difficult to tell when actual sales are so rare. when someone lists one, of course they will charge a lot more than they think they will get, after all, keeping it is never a bad idea. the same when someone shows one at a reptile show, it will get a "not for sale" or a really high price. and the actual sales happen between breeders that most likely already know each other very well.

and when one of these gets offered at a really high price, and then disappears, you dont know if it actually sold for that price. maybe it was offered at the high price just to raise the profile of the collection, and to make other breeders aware that there is one on offer, and the actual trade was much different.

there are some picasso art prints, limited to 100, numbered and signed by picasso himself. they are not unique, and definitively not as expensive as an original oil painting by picasso. you can actually get one. but they are rare enough, so that price estimates are all over the place. i wonder if there are 100 visual axanthic pieds out there right now.

well, a picasso print cannot be reproduced with sexual reproduction. axanthic pieds are being hatched, their number is increasing, the number of offers and trades is also increasing, and the price will go down. so you need to identify breeders that produce them or that can produce them, and keep asking. you need to continue hunting. time is on your side, if you dont give up, im sure you will manage to get real offers. depending on how much you are willing to pay, sooner or later you will get a real offer that is within your price range, and you get your axanthic pied.

what would you do if you have 1 million dollars to spend on an axanthic pied? you get in touch with breeders that have them and/or produce them, and pick one. what do you do when you are limited to, lets say, 1500 euros, and want an axanthic pied? you get in touch with breeders that have them and/or produce them, and keep asking, eventually you will get one for 1500 euros.

now the jackpot question: what do you do if you really want to know the going price of axanthic pieds? you get in touch with breeders that have them and/or produce them, and keep asking for updates.

so, no matter what, here is your solution. research, patience, and direct communication with the right people. like a spider weaving a web. in the world of dead objects, when you search for an exceptionally rare dead item, like an original japanese katana that is at least 100 years old, or a first edition of "on the origin of species" in good condition, or the picasso print i mentioned, it comes down to making a web of connections and keeping up the hunt.

If Mark does ship overseas (I have no knowledge either way)
$5-6K Right now not counting shipping or CITES etc that you would need.
That is a steal compared to last years prices.
And, I have seen his Lightning Pieds with the MJ Axanthic and they really retain the blacks and greys well even with some size on them.
On the plus side, in my personal opinion you would get some of the best looking Lightning Pieds I've ever seen. But, there is one draw back if you are working with another line of axanthic the strains won't be compatible. Then again you could be one of the few in the UK with this gene so it could be worth the switch just for that.

^^^Click "MJ Axanthic" tab and you will find a few available.
