Where is So Cal are you?

There's a reptile show coming up in Anaheim in a couple of weeks. There will be plenty of breeders there and you won't have to pay for shipping.

LLL Reptile has a few, they're in Oceanside and Escondido. If (Big IF) my female starts eating and give me a few months, I will have a few.

a dude named ben seigel has some bp's for 30$ male 35$female that is if the sale is still up and shipping is always 35$. they are ch but mine has no temperament problem and he eats like a pig on rats even though he was originally feeding him small mice.his wbsite is www.albinonile.com and he doesn't have pics so u have to give him ur standards for ur bp and let me tell ya reeses fitted all my standards as far as pattern and teamperament goes. oh yeah he converted to rats on the first try too hehe.

Ball-Pythons are really cheap from breeders at reptile shows.
When I went to the one near me (Boca Raton)
They had hatchlings for $20 dollars a piece.

Hmm, I'm not sure if the show would sell equipement.
Small Shows usually don't have enclosures for sale, but I might be wrong about that show.
You can house the ball-pythons in a sterilite/rubbermaid for about ten dollars ...

LLL was at a reptile show here in Sacramento earlier this month. I bought a juvenile male BP for $50. There was someone there selling tanks. I bought a 20 gallon for $30 (or maybe it was a 30 gallon).

Nope, don't know anyone, sorry. I'm sure there will be booths set up selling tanks/equipment. What kind of equipment do you need other than a tank? Getting your set-up together can be expensive, but there are ways to make it cheaper if you're worried about money.

    You can...
make your own hides out of boxes or terra-cotta flower pots.

buy a cheap bowl for water.

buy a human heating pad for $10-15.

    buy a digital thermometer/hygrometer combo for $15.

use newspaper or paper towels for substrate.

And all of these things can be found at Walmart, much easier on the wallet then buying a bunch of reptile brand stuff from a petstore or reptile show, and your snake won't know the difference.

Generally I think they're kept by the mailboxes and outdoor thermometers. You can always ask someone in the store for help, too.

Yes, that is the Wallmart I go to, and yes they're usually by the outdoor thermometers. If you can't find them, ask for help.

And by plants, do you mean fake plants for your tank? I bought some fake ivy vines from Petsmart but I don't remember how much they were. If you go to Michaels (there is one in that Walmart center) they might have something like that for cheap.

oh my god yes!!!!!!!!!!! i fianly got my mom into buying me a snake at the snake show in september i found the thermometers at walmart it was 15 bucks just like you said but it didn't have a humidity thing and there was a plastic bowl there and it was 88 cents or should i buy a ceramic bowl and i couldn't fine the heat pad but i think they are near the pharmacy there

Man, you people saying 50 bucks is expensive for a bp. I paid 100 for my captive bred baby. Then again, ball pythons are more expensive in Canada. But still, price shouldn't be a factor if you really want a healthy and happy ball python that will be with you for years to come. I say the extra money is well worth it. :D

The Accurite I purchased at Walmart was $15 but it did include the hygrometer. Are you sure it didn't have one, that seems odd to me?

Did you get the Accurite model? And they should have had the heating pad there too, near the pharmacy section.

do you think that it will be fine if i use a rubbermaid bowl as a water dish or should i buy a ceramic bowl i didn't check the pharamcy section becase i had no time i was only there for like 6 min i was looking for the bowl then i went to the outdoor applyances to look for the thermometer and then i went to go fine one of my own thing then i left

You can use a Rubbermaid, just be aware that you need to clean it much more thoroughly than a ceramic one, and it can't be sterilized in the oven.
When I go to shows, I generally bring $30 in cash for shirts or whatever, and then bring my debit card with me in case I find a once-in-a-lifetime buy. That way, it's not so easy for me to convince myself that I absolutely need that giant tank in the shape of an Elvis bust if I have to seek out an ATM and withdraw the money rather than just hand over cash for it. ;)

Well, in all honesty, I'd say yes unless you're planning on buying more than, say, a single BP. Also remember that you'll always have expenses that you didn't count on with a new animal (thermometer goes kaboom, new substrate, won't take prey that you offer so you have to try something else) and it's always good to have at least *some* money on hand to cover those things.

And Marla, I decided to hold out for the one shaped like Liberace, complete with mini-piano shaped gold-plated hidebox. ;)

And I'd have guessed you were waiting for the Betty Boop model, with the pink convertible hide box. Silly me.
