No word from Boaphile.

    No word from Boaphile.
I've heard of people going a month or two before getting their racks and tanks, but I ordered my cage in October and haven't heard so much of a whisper of reassurance that my order's been processed; I've sent a few emails without reply, tried to call and got no answer, and I'm getting more than a little anxious. I gave Jeff hundreds of dollars and he hasn't even deigned to respond to me. Am I worrying over nothing?

6 months is a long time to wait, especially with no updates or even just a simple response. I would start seeing what other options you have to explore. Even though this guy is only 50 miles from me, I would never do business with him after reading and hearing about the hassle that goes along with dealing with him.

Id keep calling if I were you. I find it odd that you didnt get an answer, every time ive ever called him he has picked up within the first 2 rings

I've heard this about him. That's why I didn't order my cages from him.

I ordered my first rack from them and will never buy another product from them. Took about 6 months to get my rack and only ever got anyone to pick up the phone one time out of that 6 months. Worst customer service ever.

I also think the pic on their website of the guy standing on the rack is very misleading because there is no way in hell I would stand on mine.

I've got 11 of his racks, 8 of them are nearly 20 years old and still working just fine. He never answers E-mails but he's usually pretty good about answering the phone.

I have three cages I bought from him and he NEVER responds to emails. He really needs to take that off of his page as a point of contact. I never heard anything for about a month, not even an invoice or a confirmation except from PayPal that I sent him over a thousand dollars. I had to call multiple times to get him to pick up as he never called back when I left messages. Just keep on him! I don't plan on ever doing business from him again though. The only advantage I happened to have was that he had the cages I needed already prebuilt for a show he did and only used once and he gave me a small discount on taking those instead, so the wait time wasn't ungodly. They showed up with broken pieces inside that held the optional lighting but nothing I couldn't fix myself and it wasn't worth dealing with him again. It is an overall good product (though the only caging system I have owned so far so I can't compare much) but that is a ridiculous wait time even with his building cycles. Unless you have your heart set, I think there are better out there for your money.

This is why I like animal plastics. Ali is phenominal for customer service. I have 4 cages from animal plastics and I plan on buying more. I needed a t8 4x2 asap. I ordered on Monday called ali and told her I was leaving town Friday and needed the tank asap as I was using a glass tank. she shipped it to me and it normaly takes 2 days shipping to get to me. I had it on my porch Thursday morning when I came home from work. she and their customer service rocks!

You are now another member of a large and distinguished club...As Deborah said, communication is not on the list of things he does well.

You ordered in OCTOBER, sent HUNDREDS of dollars and have had NO reply to your emails or calls. I'd call and email and say its the final time before you dispute the payment. How did you pay? I've heard and seen he has horrible customer relations and communications but this is absolutely ridiculous and takes the cake for the worst I've heard. Hopefully you get your money back and something for compensation.

There are a couple of things here. First and foremost, I think the common courtesy of an e-mail or answered call is certainly due.

Somebody mentioned Jeff standing on one of the plastic cages. I believe that is the rhino max plastic (HDPE) which is not the same plastic the normal cages (PVC) are mode of, but instead the rack systems. I would never stand on a boaphile.

I called and have spoken to Jeff once. He is a genuinely nice person. I may have gotten lucky as I've not heard many good stories on the communication front. At the time I was inquiring about caging and was given very basic info and not really wowed by the sales pitch.

I ended up going with Ed Lilley's cages from Constrictors Northwest (Pro-Line) and can't say enough about his customer service, cages and the plastic he uses. He called me when I was putting it together to see how it was going!! I just ordered another, and he's actually customizing it for me at no extra charge.

Just to show I'm not all about Pro-Line which I do really like, I also have communicated with Ali from AP by phone and e-mail. Animal Plastics also has EXCELLENT customer service and nice cages.

Self assembly became a non issue due to savings, and added height of the cage as both AP and PL offer cages over 11.5 inches tall for better prices than the standard boaphile. I would be happy with Pro-Line or AP based on customer service alone. I know there are some other cages out there too.

I really do like the aesthetic look of the boaphile cages, but the plastic is just not for me and I need a little TLC when I'm spending $$$.

I really feel bad for people that are all excited with maybe their first snake and first real cage, that send their money and then end up in limbo. It may seem minor, but to a first timer with a new snake and a lot of worries, there are certain things that put the mind at ease and somebody answering a call and telling you "Hey I'm running this far behind" or "I'm building yours now" Goes a long way.

I know you WILL get your cage/cages. The business is reputable and a great many folks swear by the cages. It's just really upsetting, even as an outsider not doing business with boaphile to see so many people saying the same thing.

More than likely you'll come home one day and all your stuff will be there and work perfectly for you.

    Good luck!
