hey i put my a shirt that i wore to bed and rhen cut in half in my bp's cool hide so he can get used to my scent. is this ok.
-
um need some advice people
-
Um, I don't see a problem with it. But I have no idea if it will make him used to your scent.
-
-
its a method used for this reason. it has been suggested to me numerous times. no problem with it.
-
So basiclly you put a shirt you wore in your snakes tank. So that when he is in his hide all he can smell is your cheap cologne. I think that is horrible. :-)
-
um does anyone know or has anyoe but me done this. i am surprised i would of thought maybe a few people do this.
-
podo man i didn't wear any colone and secondley the shirt is nice and soft and fill up the hide that is a lil too big for him and also man i don't smell bad its just my friggin scent i wore no other smelly condoments on me last night in my sleep.
-
I know I was just giving you a hard time. If it would make you feel better I will put one of my shirts into my one of my BPs tank.

um why am i not a leutinant?

(EDIT: like this - cool function)
Many folks have used the shirt thing in the aim of getting a snake "used to your scent" - nothing at all wrong with it - but indeed avoid colognes and other chemically odiferous caca. Is there a reason you are pursuing this in the first place is your BP shy? hissy?
-
he is very shy when it comes to me coming to get him out of his tank or when i come in the room at night he slithers for it i figure if he knows my scent he will eventually get use to me coming and getting him aout and eventually staying out during night time when i go to sleep.

Because I deleted that out of hand thread and reduced your post count in the process. Quality counts.

omg i just snorted spoup owowowowow

ah haa haa! that's a good one!

I've never done that before; I wouldn't think it would be that terribly effective. I used to do that with my sugar gliders, but then again their olfactory systems are very different, and I don't walk around with my snakes in a pouch around my neck. :D
-
If you handle your snake daily, 10-15 minutes a day.
He'll get used to you.
Personally I see no need for the shirt method.
Speaking of Sugar Gliders I had one take a dump on my arm a while back.
-
Blink, they take a dump on everything. Being peed on is actually an expression of affection. It's how they scent things, and by scenting you you become "theirs".
When I owned sugars, I had a special sweatshirt designated for when I took them out, and I had to wash it almost daily because of how much I got pooed/peed on.
-
After he took a dump on me, I never wanted to play with them again lol.
He/She wasn't mine, I was playing around with it at my local herp shop.
-
Well, it must have loved you then. :D
-
Heh - I am teh p00 magnet. Especially with our AfRock - I pretty much have to let her swim around the tub and do her business before handling or she'll let me have it every time. Love is strange.

A while ago I was planning to use the shirt method to get my bp to get used to my scent easier. But now that I have her, I see she's easily already warmed up to me in the short few days she's been with me, so I dropped the idea. If she was hissy and shy and stuff, then I might have considered the trick again. But she's a healthy captive bred so I think she'll come around quicker/easier. :)
