Re: College Students With Reptiles Thread
They're cool with it. I did pay a pet deposit, I just made the case that it's better than a cat who'll pee on the carpet.

I'm a senior at the University of New Mexico, studying theatre. I only have one boa, currently, but between her, my ferrets, and my cat, I currently don't have any room for anything else. Especially because I'm a boa person, I have no room for another four or six foot cage, not to mention a place to quarantine. I still have one year left though, and after that I plan on getting another boa.

Biology major at the University of West Georgia.
6 snakes, and a bearded dragon
-
I have 2 snakes, a cat, a guinea pig, and 2 painted mice currently so my bedroom is a zoo currently :rolleye2: not to mention my girlfriends prairie dog visits often

0.1 pastel ball and 0.1 ultramel corn! At Tennessee tech university, studying engineering.
We don't tell the landlords :D

isn't west Virginia one of the poorest states? like theres nothing to do there. you're surrounded by mountains

Re: College Students With Reptiles Thread
I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Psychology and now I'm attending Texas Woman's University for a degree in Nursing. I have 18 ball pythons (with more hopefully on the way), 4 baby corn snakes, 3 crested geckos, a small (4) breeding group of rats, and a dog.
However, I'll be graduating in May.

I miss being a student!
Maybe in a couple years I'll go back.
I didn't tell my landlords about my snakes because it's illegal here for them to deny pets/evict because of pets.

Re: College Students With Reptiles Thread
Student at University of Wisconsin Whitewater, majoring in economics. I have one BP and will get more when $ allows it. I had trouble finding an appartment here that would allow me to have a snake. The summer before I arrived here, someone broke into a guys house and let loose his large Burmese python. Because this is a small city and most people have fears of snakes (especially large ones), the city went in an uproar. The police searched for it for 2-3 weeks before finding it. So...when I came knocking on the landlord's door a few months later, asking if he would allow a python into one of his appartments he said "ABSOLUTELY NOT!". After a long explanation on how harmless Ball Pythons are and the differences between them and Burmese pythons, he allowed it. It probably also helped that I undersized my BP by a foot and a half, LOL!!!! Anyway, thats my little story haha.

Re: College Students With Reptiles Thread
Haha. I'm not technically suppose to have pets in my apartment either but I talked with the area manager and he said it would be fine. I just lock my bedroom door when maintenance comes around so they leave him alone.

Yes! SU is about 20 mins from my hometown, and I visit winchester frequently to shop, etc
where do you go in that area for reptiles/reptile supplies?
-
I am a senior at Flagler College - Tallahassee studying Business Management. I currently have (including animals that I am making payments on) 11.31 ball pythons, 1.4 BCI (red tail boas morphs), 2.3.5 crested geckos, a cat, and a 6 month old Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
I wouldn't be able to do it if it weren't for my boyfriend helping out! School is getting kinda crazy right now, and he helps out so, so much.

Winchester pet aquarium...slightly more $ than petco/petsmart...but more expertise in animals and more exotics...and the "reptile guy" there named Zach can get ya pretty much anything you want or are looking for....honestly though I only use them for food animals and basic supplies...most of the reptiles I buy are online from well known breeders or at reptile shows...most big supplies are all from reptilebasics.com...cages are all Animal Plastics.

Graduated from Univ of Texas with economics, came back to school at Texas Tech for petroleum engineering and will graduate in May. I started with a cali kingsnake at UT, was up to 18 bps last year, but decided to downsize to only my pied project until I graduate due to housing arrangements changing yearly. I now have only 2 bps and a boston terrier/english bulldog mix, but plan to get a couple more snakes this season!

Final year at Towson University near Baltimore (THE WIRE) studying journalism and currently writing about the Orioles for Barstoolsports. I have a normal bp, pastel, and recently got a western hognose. I love the hogs and am looking to purchase more soon. If anyone lives near the area and knows of any good breeders or pet stores around let me know!

HOLY TOLEDO! How do you afford that?! Right on for getting the boyfriend to help out! I keep hoping my beau will be taken with a reptile someday. As of now, he is just very loving and supportive.

I volunteer at the Baltimore aquarium! I've considered going to Towson for Animal Behavior many times.
As for me, I've just started back full-time as a sophmore at the local community college here in central VA. I'm at my financial max (need more cages/racks) with 3 boas and 6 ball pythons (payment down on a crystal). All of my part-time job earnings some how end up going to snakes :tears:.
