Girlfriend leaves me and takes incubator right before clutch drops
Can you say up the creek without a paddle? Well looks like my first clutch I'm gonna have to let the momma do it. I was thinking about getting a cheap foam one but I don't know if switching them would be worse off? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/15/eje4e9ur.jpg

I would just let mom do her thing. They're pretty good at it and it would be neat to watch. There are plenty of threads here on maternal incubation if you have questions...or just ask. :)

Thanks sho220, guess I'm nervous about humidity levels

The eggs look great, sure mamma will take care of things. There are some posts with plenty of good information if you'd like to read up a bit:

Where are you? Someone close by may have space available in their incubator.

I have no experience with maternally incubating, but I would also be worried about humidity levels using care fresh.

U can get some spag moss and keep it damp inside the tub .. humidity I believe can stay around 60-70% I was told this from someone that only does maternal .. u can continue to offer her food just little meals once a week .. and eveything should be fine im sure she laid them away from the hot spot so she can regulate temps on her own ... sit back and enjoy the process .. im only having one clutch this year and I intend on doing the same thing

your ex sounds like a piece of work. you should pray to the odds gods that you hit everything you were looking for and that both parents have a hidden het, just so you can rub perfect babies in her face after your dam cares for them. :gj:

She laid em near the hotspot, should I reposition the tub away from it? Falls Church isn't to far maybe 25min away I think

Trust her to take care of the clutch. They've been doing this for millions of years before we came alng with our incubators! Im sure she'll be a great momma.

Sucks about the girlfriend. Sounds like a piece of work, you can do better

Well it was her incubator and she thought her females would drop when mine did and she didn't want to share. Pairing is a Hypo male and Normal female. This is my first time breeding and hopefully I can sell all but one female holdback to get other morphs.

As far as that photo goes... that's lovely. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. There seems to be this heir of cold aloofness about snakes simply because they do not like or love the way we do. So it makes me feel so good to see something as instinctual as a mother caring for her eggs. :)

Best of luck to you both!

they have been doing it for millions of years in the wild, not stuck in captivity.

Snakes can seek out the proper environment in the wild to lay, they cannot make the proper environment in captivity themselves.

So if the op doesn't have things set up right the ball can't change that.
