ARRRRRRGGGGg!!!!! So frustrating some times!!!!
Half of my BPs are off feed and the other half cant seem to stuff their faces enough.....this is beyond annoying and frustrating...and some of the ones off feed have been off for 3-5 weeks now. I hate the winter season b/c of this off feed bs :(:taz::rolleye2:
sorry needed to vent...this makes me crazy!

That's really close to my issue too. Bought a male albino in December and he's only eaten once, weighs only 184 grams....

Mine went from 220 grams to 212 in 5 months. She still looks fat and plump. When i got her i believe she was 2-3 months old.

Don't stress, unless they're losing major weight there's nothing to worry about......let it be.....:)

Balls are definitely being over fed in captivity. I noticed a long to time ago if I cut back on feedings after they get a few hundred grams most never hit the 1,000 gram wall or go off feed at any point.
I also rarely have a breeder male go off feed because I don't pound them either.
I do have a few picky eaters that don't eat consistently no matter how much or little I offer. These are usually Mousers or African Rat eaters though.

The thing about cutting back on feedings I've noticed too. It might mean that females don't grow as quickly but it also means that you dont have to fight with animals being picky for a year or more.

Them not eating isn't the frustrating part, if you feed f/t and you have to waste feeders that's the frustrating thing lol. :) just sayin :p
Not frustrating for the live feeder people I guess haha.

F/t is cheaper which is what Ive switched to now....very frustrating when you waste a feeder...I will only refreeze a rat/mouse once after thawing them out.

Exactly! That's what I thought the case was. F/t is cheaper for me as well. Can't raise a colony where I live, and live is even harder to find in my area. So f/t is best for me. It is very annoying/frustrating having to waste the feeders. I totally understand what you mean :) ugh can't wait for it to warm up and have them eating again.

And if you're refreezing feeders give it to a boa on the second go-round. Less likely it will be thrown away!
Dont own a boa...other than my dumerils which is being hand fed by a friend of mine and is the smallest of my snakes.

Heh heh,
Wait till you are breeding them.

I started staggering my feedings years ago - hardly ever have to waste food anymore.
If you have 10 to feed but suspect 3 may not eat then only defrost 7 and offer to the possible non-eaters first from least likely to eat to most likely.
Then if they all stun you by eating defrost some for the three you were sure would feed no problems the day before.
Important note Do not do this between animals in your main collection and those in quarantine.
Saved me a fortune in food.

Well if my stupid elected officials pass the "dangerous wild animals" bill I may have to send you mine because every boa species is on the list. :(

What do you have?
and for the record its disgusting that there are like 8 of those bills all over the US right now....they all need to butt out of responsible owner's business!

I gotta boy that if he consistently eats for 4 months of the year I'm pleasantly surprised.
