So since this is my first year, I am by no means skilled at palpating for follicles however I thought I would give it a shot. And I actually think I may have felt a couple. They were about the size of a marble or a little less and I only felt 2 but she stopped crawling through my hands at that point.

So I have been getting locks with this pair every time I put them together. While I'm not the best at palpating yet, I decided to palpate my girl and was pleased to feel 7 ping pong ball sized follicles. I know that is no guarantee but I am super excited!

Congrats, I remember the first time my Bp's locked. I was on cloud nine. It's still great to see every time.

at ping pong sized follicles, your female should have an obvious bulge already. ovy should come aytime soon. best of luck to you. don't forget to post ovy pics.

x2 he does have a very cool pattern! Can't say I've seen one quite like that. Congrats on the first lock! It's so exciting! I had my first lock a while back with my lemonblastxpastel het clowns. I should see an ovulation before too long here, she is definitely glowing!

Best of luck with these two! :gj:

Thanks guys, no ovulation yet that I have noticed although I may have missed it the other night, she looked like she may have been starting or just finishing. And thank you for the complements on the pastel. He is pretty cool. Starting to brown out a tad from when he was younger but not a whole lot and he does have some pretty cool swirls in his pattern

Well what do you guys think? Ovulation no ovulation? The fact that I am not certain makes me uncertain. It is the first time that she showed no interest in the male and she does have a noticeable bulge.

definitely a big sign. if it's not yet an ovy, it's probably still building.
you monitor closely, only way i can tell when the big O happens is when it stops growing. i check everyday (and take photos of course), if i notice a decrease in size then i'm sure the ovy date was the day before. i hope that makes any sense. lol.

Congratz on what you have going so far and thanks for the pics. I'm still trying to learn how to tell the difference between building and the ovulation, so they help a bunch. I obviously don't have it down yet, got my first ever intentional clutch a little by surprise a week and a half ago and was almost squealing like a junior high school girl in excitement. Keep in mine iI'm a 40yr old man. Would have been hilarious to my wife.

Good luck! I wish mine would actually get somewhere! I have seen multiple locks with my pastel female and spider male and now she's no longer interested in him at all. She hasn't ovulated yet that I can tell though. It's driving me crazy:taz: I really hope I get my first clutch out of them this year.

Super excited. First ever visualized lock
    Well Good News; bad news.
I'll start with the good: I HAVE EGGS - so very excited I can't hardly stand it! I counted (from the bottom of the tub) 7 eggs, 3 are for sure slugs. At least 4 good.
Now for the bad news. Last week I had my incubator running in preparation and my Thermostat quite working, I have ordered another but won't be here till Thursday - that being said, I am allowing Momma to do her thing and maternally incubate the eggs until I get the temp in the incubator where it needs to be. When the incubator is good to go, I will be candleing the eggs as I move them over and will be holding my breath they they are still good.

Interesting note, she did lay about 10 days early! Per my count, she was due on the 10th. Just goes to show that Mother Nature doesn't read the literature lol!

Got the eggs moved to the incubator today! 7 total, 3 slugs and after candling, pretty sure only going to end up with 2 good eggs. I did leave the other 2 attached.

Well have good and bad news. After a while in the incubator, there ended up being only 2 good eggs. After almost 60 days, the first egg hatched to reveal a beautiful spider female. However, the 2nd egg didn't hatch after consulting with someone with years of experience, decided to cut the egg open. Inside was a pastel alive but very weak. I set him up in a small tub however he didn't survive the first night. After further inspection, I don't think he ever fully developed.

Here though is a picture of the healthy Spiderhttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/30/9u5ypyha.jpg

That's unfortunate news about the eggs, but at least momma and one of the babies is healthy!

Thank you, I am excited to see how she looks once she sheds. Even though things didn't turn out as I had hoped with my first clutch, I am excited that both mom and baby are happy
