Just curious, how do you guys handle your snakes after feeding? I feed my girls right in their tank; I've heard handling too soon after feeding can make them regurgitate. Do you use a hook or just your hands?

I feed in a seperate box. I pick mine up when shes done and place her directly back into her tank. I dont think that it is the actual handling part, I think its the fact that they will regurge if they don't feel safe. They are very vulnerable after they eat. I usually wait 24 hours, and never had any problems.

    the best substrate
i've been feeding in a separate tank as well. i orginally didn't think i was gonna do that, but i have found that it is easier for me to keep an eye on things that way and also easier to clean up any blood or fluids from the mouse. when nellie has completely swallowed the mouse and it is all the way down in her belly then i just gently pick her up and set her down into her tank at which time she usually hurries into her warm hide. then i give her a full 48 hours to digest before i handle her again.

I like the conditioning the results from feeding in a seperate enclosure as well. The snake knows there's only one thing to do once you get into the 'box 'o death.' EAT!

    Bro killed my ball python...
Heh. I tried feeding Roo and Vash in separate tanks, they just looked at me funny like "Oh my god, where's my tree?!?! I want my box back! Why is it so white in here? Where did my box go? MOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!"
After that, I just let them eat in their tanks. I check daily for waste but my substrate doesn't hide much in the way of poopies/pee nuggets.

No other snake in captivity has such a spread in terms of temperment as ball pythons do. Each one really is an individual in terms of personality.

I just wait a day or more after feeding, before handling. I'd never handle one of them just after eating.

You handle your snakes an hour after they've eaten? You really should leave them be for a day or two at least before handling. You don't want to stress them out and have them regurgitate their meal, which isn't good for their digestive system.

I always give my bp ample time to digest before I start handling sessions again. I feed her around 9pm every friday, and leave her digest all weekend, then start handling her like usual on monday. Haven't had a problem yet.

You should really keep an eye on what you're doing when you have a snake out...

(is it me or is this person trolling? )

What kind of box do you people use? Size? w/lid or not? I have only fed mine in their cages.

I've fed in a boot box once, probably 12 inches by 18 inches with a lid. Vash liked it.

I use an empty 10 gallon tank for a feeding tank.
If you only fed your snake in your cage, and had good results ... you should stay with feeding in the cage.
