    Normal Yellow Belly Or.....
This fall I bought a ball python with no intention of breeding, so I wasn't too concerned about genetics, I was willing to take whatever was reasonably priced and easy to handle. The breeder I bought mine from said he was a normal and also pretty sure he was a yellow belly. I've been looking into it a little more, and that was also the conclusion I came to.
However...I showed the pictures to another ball python breeder the other day, and he said that he thought my snake (Phoenix) was a mystic. I don't think he is, but I could be wrong? Opinions?

I honestly don't see anything but a classic normal. No YB or Mystic in my opinion. Hope you didn't pay too much.

Ok, I only paid $20 for him, so that's what I was expecting. He has a very spotted "granite" underbelly which is why I thought he was a yellow belly

    NORMAL

Nothing even close to a mystic and definitely not a YB

Your 4th and 5th pics picked up the brassy highlights very nicely.
I can't say I see indications of Yb or Mystic in this animal though.
As wound up as we get over paintjobs at times it is nice to see some good looking wild types finding homes still.
Congrats and I hope you enjoy your pet.

He was probably pulling your leg about the mystic... At least I hope so... To many ppl call themselves "breeders". Any idiot can put opposite sex animals together and get babies, doesn't mean they know anything

    Re: Normal Yellow Belly Or.....
Thanks!!! I was so confused because he looks nothing like my normal female, he has this crazy yellow/gold glow to him and I can't figure out why. You can tell he's different just looking at his top, but once you flip him over his belly/sides are really yellowish. I guess he's a "special normal" :D
