    E-Cigarettes
I've decided I REALLY need to quit smoking. I don't know why I even started again after I got out my basic training, but I did. I'm that person that's on the fence about quitting. My will isn't strong enough to just stop. I WANT to quit for obvious reasons: not dying slowly from lung cancer, being with my family longer, being able to run without feeling like my lungs are on fire, etc. But...I don't really want to quit. I like smoking, and I have the typical triggers that make it REALLY hard: driving, eating...err others. Either way, I told my wife I'm quitting, I've told my son I'm quitting...so I really need to.

I've been really skeptical of E-cigarettes because a couple years ago I tried using those crappy disposable ones from the gas stations. I don't even remember the brand, but it was terrible. It didn't help in the least, and then I read that there are carcinogens in them and aren't really much better! Anyone use V2 Cigs? I just ordered some of the E-liquid ones, not the cartridge ones. I know a few people that have used them and they seem to like them, but figured I'd see if anyone here has any experience with them.

I used a blucig for a few months when I was quitting and it wasn't half bad. You don't really get the same level of satisfaction but if you're going with the weaning method it works well enough.

I have the Nicstation brand. It uses liquid crap and you have to plug it in to charge it, is that the kind you mean?

It helped in some ways. Like, when I didn't feel like going outside I could sneak into the bathroom at work and have a fake-smoke! As far as helping with the cravings, it didn't work for me. It doesn't taste or feel like you're smoking at all. You knows particularly stressful or boring days where you smoke significantly more than average and you notice it in your chest in the evening? That's how the e-cig made me feel all the time. I didn't care for it at all. It'll get you through in a pinch, but it's just not the same as a Camel!

But the nic-liquid was expensive so I've been spiking my pepsi with it so as not to be wasteful.

I'm a lot like you describe yourself. I don't really want to quit and I have zero will power. If you haven't already, you should try Chantix. It works really well. I used it and quit for several weeks with very minimal withdrawal issues. I still wanted to smoke sometimes in the beginning but I didn't act like a complete psycho and the cravings passed quickly. After awhile, I literally just kind of forgot that I smoked.

When I started again after that it was because I had this brief, minor I-could-go-for-a-smoke thing and there was one available so I smoked it thinking it was "just one". Nope. If you make it through that first week or so and don't kill anyone or relapse, you really can never, ever, ever, do it again no matter what.

I got a vape for Christmas, and I like it well enough. However, the novelty wore off within a week or two. I need to remind myself that I have it, and I think I need new liquid for it, I got Spearmint flavor and level 12 nicotine. I'm not the biggest Spearmint fan, and I need a higher nic level to take the edge off. However, my liquid supplier has pretty good prices, so I might run back after I go back to work and actually have money.

(It doesn't help that my aunt is currently paying me in smokes for the odd-jobs I do for her household.)

I use a e-cig when I feel stressed or have anxiety from school and work. I used to smoke from 13-20 years old and quit cold turkey. I just feel like the process of inhaling and exhaling really calms my nerves. And I am all the way down to 0 mg of nicotine as well since nicotine raises my blood pressure and I am only 25. E-cigs (most) are just water vapor and nicotine, no carcinogins.

I have to recommend the vape pens. They're reusable, reliable, and you can change the amount of nicotine included with your choice of flavor. Plus they usually come with rechargeable batteries, so you don't have to keep spending money on those.

I quit cold turkey after 30 years of 2 packs a day after I woke up on this past August 1st and couldn't catch my breath, I tried the E-cigs and they just didn't do it for me as I wanted the real thing so, I just don't do it at all now and I love the xtra cash in my pocket, my cigarette money is what buys me more snakes.

I know 3 people who use the blucig and they really like it. 2 of 3 people have been able to not smoke while using it and didnt' seem like hardcore smokers. The 3rd is my mother and turns into a crackhead when she doesn't have coffee or a cigarette. She tried bartering/bribing me with food and beer to buy her cigarettes when she didn't have one for two weeks(long story I won't get into). I can only imagine what she'd be like if she was on hard drugs.

But I digress, the blucig seems like a good way to go if you aren't a crackhead smoker. ;)

I know a bunch of people who were able to completely replace cigarettes with e cigs and they all feel a lot healthier.

It didnt work that well for me. Because I could use it inside I was puffing on it almost constantly and I would take huge hits on it like I was trying to get high without even meaning to. So it wasnt for me.

I've been tobacco free for 12 years this month. I did it the old fashioned way, came down with a real nasty flu virus that laid me flat on my back for a couple of weeks. I couldn't even get out of bed to have a smoke for the first 4 or 5 days so I laid there feeling completely miserable while seriously craving a cigarette. I guess negative re-inforcement works because I came out of that experience associating craving a smoke with feeling like crap and I haven't had a cigararette since. My son uses an E-cig even though I'm pretty sure he never smoked regular cigarettes and he DOES have a nasty cough a lot of the time so I'm not sure how safe they really are.

a friend of mine switched to electronic cigarettes a while ago. and he went through a variety of models. and i often try them out.

some things i learned: the ones that activate as you pull, based on a pressure sensor, are crap. get one that is button-activated. and the good ones can be disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled easily. good ones come with spare parts. they have a container for the liquid which you re-fill using a small bottle.

i have never seen one that uses single-use batteries. never. they all use lithium ion or lithium polymer rechargeables, much like cellphones.

its much better for the lungs, because they produce fume, not smoke, there is nothing burning, you just drive the fluid above its boiling point. so, no carbon monoxide, no soot or tar particles. i wouldnt call them healthy, but they really are much less harmful than actual cigarettes.

i suggest to get & try a bunch of different flavors, some taste good, some taste weird, some taste completely different from what they are advertised as. if i remember correctly, the best ones i tried were apple and vanilla.

with the price for cigarettes, and given how much you save, if you invest just a fraction of that in e-cigarettes and fluids, you can really get decent stuff, good ones may cost between 50 and 120 dollars. if you manage to switch away from cigarettes, it pays for itself within days or weeks, even if you spend 100 dollars on a really good e-cigarette every now and then, you will still save a lot of money.

E cigs are a great way to quit but DONT use the cheap disposable gas station ones. The e juice in them is made in China and God knows whats in it. Go to a vape shop and get American made juice. It comes in 1,000's of flavors and also in diminishing levels of nicotine. Villain Vapors out of California makes great juice. If the electronic device is from China that is fine but DONT use their liquids as there is no way to know if the nicotine level is accurate and what else may be in it. Nicotine is not what gives you cancer, there is alot of negative press out there most of it is based on ignorance and fear. E-cigs are the most effective way to quit and have become so popular that the cigarette companies took a big drop in the Stock market recently because of diminishing sales. I have a vapor shop in LA so if any advice is needed feel free to PM or email me at raul@westcoastjungle.com

I would be more than happy to help you quit smoking!:)
    I vape zero nicotine:gj:

My husband uses them. He makes his own e liquid now and it's pretty low cost. I don't know very much about it myself. He doesn't smoke anymore, except very rarely a cigar or something. I could ask him for more info if you're interested.

I used to smoke too, but I really wanted to quit (because I was pregnant at the time) so it was easier for me. My husband really didn't want to, but he started vaping in the winter (a couple of years ago) because I didn't mind him doing it indoors. I'm sure a part of him wanted to quit (and not have health problems), but he really did enjoy smoking and didn't want to give it up. He does still vape nicotine, but it's a pretty low concentration.

I dont smoke anymore, but have used a friends Ecig before. They are pretty nice, but you need to spend some money and get a good one, as others above have said. Push button, rechargeable, buy an extra battery piece as well just incase one goes dead while your out (not likely). My friend also mixes his own fluid, buys it in large quantities and makes his own flavors and what not, much cheaper this way than buying it pre-mixed in the little bottles.

Yeah, it was actually around $4.00 a pack when I quit 12 years ago. I shudder to think what it costs these days.

You are much better off to seek out a local vape shop in your area as mentioned, also avoid the gas station brands, most were bought out by tobacco companies even BLU. I started with an evod twist 1000 mah and from purchase I stopped smoking analog (real) cigs the sameday and never looked back. I smoked for 20 years. Invest in a proper system and you should be off and running. Im in the end process of getting my company upstart finished, my facebook page has a great article on e liquid. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Execu...71576116339074

You should definitely try to quit. I quit pretty recently (about 8 months) after smoking for about 10 years. Personally, I quit with patches even though it took me like 5 tries to do it.

If you're pretty serious about quiting I'd check out chantex (I think that's how you spell it) its prescription meds but it's supposed to be really good for quitting. Plus, you can still smoke for about a week after starting.

Once, I got one of those 7-11 brand e-cigs NJOY, and those will definitely make you quit. Every drag is so horrible, you think twice about taking it. After a while, you don't even want to smoke. Lol

Anyway, I wish you luck. Don't worry if you don't quit on your first try. Just keep trying to quit over and over.
