    Black pastel/het pied prices
Hey guys, not sure if this belongs here or not just let me know if it doesn't. I was curious about some black pastels. How much are regular black pastel females and males going for? Also how about black pastel 33% het piebalds. I'm breeding my black pastel 66% het pied male to my normal female this year. Just curious how much these guys are going for. Thank you :)

First off, please use proper writing. Secondly, who said he wasn't proved out? I'm just asking a question. I'm not selling the baby's because I'll be breeding them in the future. I'm just curious how much they would cost even if they aren't proven out.

Didn't you say your BP was 66% Het Pied?

And a friendly pointer, from an old guy. Throwing someone's grammar under the bus usually results in a derailed thread and a lot of hurt feelings. Suffice it to say that as long as you can understand what the poster intended, then the requirement for successful communication has been met.

I honestly don't understand what he's trying to say. Isn't one of the requirements on this forum proper usage of words? Either way non of this has answered my questions and I would appreciate if I could get some black and white answers. I have my reasons for asking what I did. Sorry if I offended anyone :)

There is an old saying about people who live in glass houses not throwing stones. Also pays to remember that not everyone on this Forum is from the U.S., and some speak English as a second language.

He was confused by your use of the term "66% Het Pied", then I was confused when you later said

Has your Het proven out for you?

To answer your original question, I've seen Black Pastel Het Pieds selling in the $600 -$1000 range depending on size and sex. I've seen Black Pastel possible Het Pieds going for as little as $100.

I was just going to say "Welcome Back, Slim" too lol For the OP though: high quality black pastel females I would pay ~$300 shipped, males ~$150 shipped (no hets).

Normal Black Pastels or 33%ers...$50-$75 for a males, $125-$150 for a females...

Hardly worth breeding a Black Pastel to a Normal these days...

Thank You Angelica, and thank you for the updated price information. Guess you can tell I've been out of circulation for a while LOL.

You know what they say about BP price points, if ya don't like em', just wait a season and watch them get cut in half :D

I recently purchased a 130g female Black Pastel for $150. As for 66%-33% Hets I haven't seen many for sale. I've only seen 100% Hets for sale, there is a female Black Pastel 100% Het pied for sale on another site for $950 . I think most people list the 66%-33% Hets as possible Hets but still offer them at the same price as a non Hets. Good luck with your breeding

Black Pastels can be had easily for under $200.

I got my 1.0 Black Pastel 100% Het Pied last season for right around $1000 at 500g.

if you really work on a recessive project, you produce visual piebalds and 100% het piebalds. breeders work towards producing visuals, and avoid the production of possible hets. double recessive projects are an exception, you can find things like albino 66% het pied or 66% double hets or axanthic 66% het snow.

breeders typically dont charge more for 66% hets or 50% hets or 33% hets. some breeders dont even mention 50% or 33% hets.

    Re: Black pastel/het pied prices
If your really planning on proving out your black pastel poss het pied you really want a pied girl for him. That way, worst case scenario (he doesnt prove out) your producing 100% het pieds first generation, so you'll be making your pieds and black pastel pieds eventually, just a little slower. You dont really want a het pied or poss het pied girl for him. If you produce no visual pieds your in trouble, cuz you have no idea when/if you'll ever produce a pied.

Not trying to be a jerk, this is an honest question: you know what 66% poss het actually means right?

66% Het is just a bounus for me as a buyer.... prices would be the same as a non Het if I was selling, but advertised as a 66% PH.

Unless it is a reliable breeder 100% Het does not even mean much....
