    Reptiles Anonymous
I seriously then they need an RA , reptiles anonymous , I find myself whenever I have free time either surfing the web for more information or going to reptile stores or anything that has to do with reptiles. Ahhh I love it ! What a great hobby this is, wish I found it earlier in life.

You guys are just getting started! It doesn't get better, no matter how hard you try. Lol! Just watch out for empty tanks and tubs, that's just asking for an itching desire for a new snake!!

The cresties are addictive too, and really easy to keep. I have 2 in my bedroom now. :P

There is no cure for this addiction, you can only treat the symptoms. Which means things like spending hours playing with the morph calculator on WOBP, reading thread after thread on reptile related sites, and going to every expo, swap, show and breeder you can find. And of coursethe ultimate "fix", buying another animal/cage/supply.

Ha! We have TWO outgrown tanks right now, just begging to be filled with more snakes. We started with two California kings, got a ball, and now I want to start exploring the wonderful world of morphs. It's only a matter of time ...

Have you guys checked Na9mi's threads. She caught the bug hard. Got her first one back in the summer/fall and she's gonna hit 15 in the next couple months. It is catchy.

Got 3 snakes the first year I started 13 years ago. Jumped back into the hobby a little harder last year and jumped from 5 to 10 in a year with my 11th snake coming in 2 weeks.

Oh my god. My boyfriend and I just hit our second year anniversary. He knew I was into reptiles from the start, but in the past year my snake count has jumped up from 2 to 10 .

And he thinks I'm going to come home empty-handed when we go to Repticon this weekend.

    I love that boy.

My name is Wendy, and I'm a snakeaholic! Is it bad that I don't know the exact number of snakes I have at any given time and am not completely sure that I want to? I've gotten to the point that when people ask me how many snakes I have, I just tell them that I keep ten different species. ;)

LOL. I've learned not to fight it. The only thing that has kept my numbers down is the fact that it's way too cold to get anything shipped here right now. Also there haven't been any local expos. Once spring hits my numbers will jump again lol.

This started for me a long time ago, like 20ish years. My collection has varied in that time, going from a couple dozen animals down to one boa a few years ago when I was driving truck otr. Then we went to florida in 2010, and while marveling at the number of herps I could find simply running around outside the rented condo, we went somewhere for food and I saw something I hadn't seen before. It was a shop completely devoted to reptiles, something unheard of in my area. It was actually Ben Seigal reptiles, and that place along with one other really jumpstarted my addiction again. I got one ball python and a few other thing and hauled them all back to Michigan. Then I found a local expo, and things got rapidly worse. Came home with something almost every month. Then in 2012 I thought "Breeding bps sounds like fun and it'll be a good way to get some of the morphs I want but can't afford." Now I have 32 bp's, 3 boas, a blood, and a whole pile of lizards and turtles. And I just started my first year breeding. So if you go a little nuts just enjoy it like I do and know your certainly not alone.

OMG!! I looove Ben Siegel Reptiles! That's where I got Calypso. (I have them on my Facebook, and they had what's called a "Slam" deal. Be the first to write slam five times, and you get (whatever herp) for ($whatever price). I won Calypso for $39. :) I live and work very close to where they are. I also saw Medusa, their two-headed milksnake mascot. Those people are so nice, and so helpful!

I can see how they jump-started your herp enthusiasm!! :)

Did I mention I love Ben Siegel Reptiles?? lol

    Ill join RA also:snake:

i used to have may snakes back in high school. A BP, red tail, Burmese, Cali kings, and a gecko. My wife said we could never have snakes because they are "disgusting". We all ready have a mini schnauzer named Bailey.

it all started a year ago. My wife saw the 100+ lb sulcata tortoise at my kids school. It is a mascot that goes where it pleases throughout the day. My wife had to have one. Picked one up named Ellie. She is probably 10 lbs or so.

just before Christmas this year my wife said we should get a lizard. I said, "why not a snake, it is just a lizard with no legs". :D Unbelievably, she said ok! I decided to get a BP because I had one before and it had a great temperament. I had no idea about morphs until I found a local breeder and surprisingly my wife fell in love with a firefly male so we picked him up. We named him Crankie Frankie because of how pissy he was the first week at home. He is now puppy dog tame and the wife and kids love to handle him daily!

we went to repticon a few weeks back and my 9 year old daughter made friends with a breeder at the show. I was surprised at how interested she was in genetics and breeding. After learning we could make white snakes by breeding our firefly to a fire, she had to have the fire female they were selling. She had saved some money so we let her buy the fire! My daughter named that one Dottie...

now we have plans to breed and my wife wants a cinnamon butter to breed to the firefly also. I am wanting a pied, just because, and we have even talked about buying a pair of adults so we can start breeding even sooner, lol:D

oh, I can't forget to mention the bearded dragon my wife bought this past saturday. It is a cool addition and really loves to be handled. She named it Ziggy...

it is amazing how things have changed in the past month as far as my wife's attitude toward snakes. Next is a sugar glider... I think we are going to start charging admission into our zoo.

My hubby said no more after I got my second BP. He's a 1 1/2 yr old YB. I also have a 4 yr old female normal. I am looking at getting a few more. A pastel boy and a cinnamon girl. They are amazing animals. I would like to try and breed my normal to my YB and keep a yb girl next year. He's still in semi quarantine. I am afraid that while he's gone for work I will be getting those 2. I am addicted to their personalities, and ease of care, at least compared to my dog and cat and boys lol.

This is no joke. I spend less time taking care of the herps than what it takes to care for my 5 dogs. Wife and kid help with the dogs though.

No no, in our case support group means we say things like "Cool, nice pickup." when you show us a pic of your new snake. Your thinking of one of those "other" groups.:D

I've recently been that way also!
Only have one BP which is our first and first reptile. Literally past week I've spent 2-3 nights up ALL night without sleep listening to music, cruising the forums and watching videos of reptiles...
I've grown to love them more than I thought i would.
