How True is This?
My girlfriend sent this to me this evening, and for me its 100% true. After number seven I told her I was done for a while. I wasn't.

So how true is this for you? Discuss!

I only wanted one,so I bought one and two months later bought my second and that was a while ago, maybe when I get my raise at work and my progression in tact then I'll get a 3rd but doubt it. I'm fine with two

Re: How True is This?
I bought my first one almost two weeks ago now, since then i have got 4 more. i plan on getting a couple more here pretty soon. i am very fascinated with them. It depends on the person though. i understand some people only wanting one or two, but me personally. i plan on breeding and collecting for a long time. lol

Re: How True is This?
I'm not fully at that stage yet, I have a long wish list. Though I do wind up in the "I can't take it, I don't have the room." 2 weeks later I make room and have another snake.
I've gotten rid of a computer desk and threw everything on top of my bureau into a box for 4 more snakes, a shelf unit and colony worth of rodents. :D
I jumped from 5 snakes to 10 snakes in the last year. :D

Exactly I obtained my first when I turned 16 (I'm 23 now) I still have him, and he's my bud. I've always been fascinated with snakes; bringing them home since I was 8. I plan on breeding them next year hopefully, and want to make a good business of it. Not so much for the money, but just for pure passion and love for these animals.
Any way. After my first show last April its just been an ever growing passion.

Re: How True is This?
yep, we all started off with just one. :D
-
Yep sounds just like me. My girlfriend told me NO MORE BALL PYTHONS!!! So I just moved on to boas.
-
Re: How True is This?
i guess i got lucky. my wife said no to the first one, but now shes just as anxiouse to get more as i am. she loves my male fire. she has named all of them after harry potter characters lol. i guess ill live with that as long as she keeps letting my collection grow.
-
I've only got my single ball python so far, but I do plan to get a Green Tree Python as my second snake.
-
It's very true lol. I went from 1 to 6 in a few months. Probably would have more by now but there aren't any shows for a few months yet that are near me and right now it's too cold to ship.
-
I started with one, went up to five 6 months later, and am now waiting shipment on #11 next week some time. :)

Up until recently, my parents were the kind that were rather strict about what pets I own. However, because I'm finally being a good son (lol), mom said she's going to buy me both #3 and #4, and I'll probably be buying myself #5 a week later, just once we finish moving, anyway.

Hehe, if you are going to do it, do it right I started with 2 boas...with breeding being an option but not a goal. In about 2 months or so t had a total of about 25 snakes or so, mixed between balls, boas of different types and 3 garters. Now I am done with the big rush and am keeping my eyes open for my next snake...but it has to catch my eye and be affordable...if I could find a yellow anaconda locally I'd grab it up. Also in my future are a few hognose. Oh and now I have a hankering for some pac man or pixie frogs.....and that will probably go from 0 to 5-10 of them so I can get some of the different morphs.
-
I bought my first in august my second a month after and im shopping for my third. Even after my third I have a wanted list and a rack build in mind. I dont think it will ever end lol

Re: How True is This?
August 2012 #1 entered the house. Now I have over 30, with plans for 3 more.

Re: How True is This?
Snakes are like Pringles. You can never stop at just one. EVER. I started with a normal ball, then a milk snake, then another milk snake, then a king snake, then another ball, and then another king snake, and then a red tail, and then a burmese, and then another milk, and then ..... Of course it pretty much expands to a lot of reptiles really. I also have two Panther Chameleons, several leopard geckos, a blue tongued skink, and three bearded dragons.
To make room for all my reptiles I had to get rid of a dining room, a spare bedroom, all excess furniture in my living room, a chest of drawers in my bedroom, and the closet in the office. But on the plus side every room in my house has a reptile in it!

Re: How True is This?
I bought my first python... actually my first I bought three!! 1.5 months later I end up with 13 total. Decided to give one to a friend and now only have 12. Planning to get 1 or 2 more within the next two months

I'm not quite sure about this.
Most typically boys start out with having 2 balls. http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...t2-d4o0wqs.png

Re: How True is This?
I started with one ball python, and now have 14 snakes(in a 9 month period) and half of them are adults. 12' yellow anaconda, 8.75' boa, 8' boa, 7.5' boa, 6.5' yellow anaconda, 7.5' boa, 5' boa. The rest are just babies like my female platty retic, baby yellow anaconda girl, Dominican red mountain boa, hypo BCI, normal BCI, normal ball, x2 ultra Breit Borneo bloods. And looking for another retic soon.
I love this hobby
I like my Dubstep to go Wop Wop Wop Wop

I want your life
Right now I'm really limited on space (and money) but I'm already dreaming of getting more ball pythons, a corn snake, eventually a carpet python... maybe some leopard geckos, a bearded dragon, blue tongued skink, a black and white tegu... oops those aren't snakes. But if I get any of these soon it'll probably be a corn.
-
Re: How True is This?
Yeah, black and white tegu is on my list next. That and blue tree monitors. I need a bigger house first though since both require very large enclosures. I've built my collection up over a decade plus, and it is easy to tell where all my money goes.

I've got a local show coming up February 2nd. I'm telling myself that I'm only going for supplies. (Rats, and Bedding). But if I see something real nice then I may think about it (my mojo needs a woman!) . However I've got 4-5 out of state shows that I'm going to this summer. There is NO way I'm driving that far to not come home with something breathing.

I did the exact same thing. Whoops.
Somehow :snake:+:snake:=:snake:^10. It's just science.

Definitely. haha Right now my budget (and room available) is keeping me from getting any more, but there's a lot on my list. I'm trying to take it slow, though. I got my ball python a little over 7 years ago, my boa constrictor a little over 2 years ago, and got my garter snake about 3.5 months ago now with another garter coming once the weather warms up. My mom tells all her friends she's not worried about me partying every day while she's gone (she's getting a trucking job), she's more worried about how big the zoo will be when she comes home. lol

Re: How True is This?
I planned ahead. I told everyone at Thanksgiving not to give me presents for Christmas but to be ready to cough up the cash on Feb 15 when the NARBC is going to be in my area. My mom, aunt, and grandmother have promised to go with me (I am so totally taking pictures! Snakes freak them out!), and they have the cash from my other relatives (REALLY big family) and all told I'll have just over a thousand to spend at the NARBC this year. I'm either going to get a killer combo male, or some kind of het clowns. Maybe pastel or lesser. Not sure yet. Of course my game plans always get blown out of the water as soon as I walk in. I could walk out with something sugar, or axanthic, or a purple passion. I've had my eye on one. But I really want an enchi sugar male. Dying to add him to my breeding stock and pair him up with some of my females. I am literally counting down the days!

Re: How True is This?
I don't even pretend that the collection is going to stop growing... it just shifts depending on what projects I have. It's the hardest working here - you see something come in and you go "whelp I need five of these now".
That's exactly how it goes, too, especially with unusual species.
"WHAT IS THAT?"
"I dunno...some kind of legless lizard."
"I NEED THAT."
"...okay. we have a bunch."
"I want 10, but I guess I'll settle with just 5."
"Do you even know what they're called?"
"no but I NEED THEM"
and that's the story of how I got limbless skinks. (much research commenced after deciding to get them - I actually ended up writing the caresheet on them commonly used now)

Re: How True is This?
I suffer from "GGMS", aka "gotta get more snakes".
